Backlot is a good map for players that are beginning the game and players that like heavy duty combat. It is a 1 on 1/2 on 2 (Team Deathmatch) level.

Stay on the move![edit]

One of the most important tricks in the whole game is to never stay in one place for too long, and that applies heavily here, as there are almost no buildings that only have one side facing the map. So it is easy for players to sneak around you.

Mounted machine guns[edit]

There are several mounted machine guns on some buildings that can give you a major advantage if used correctly. Depending on the guns being used, the game can be won or lost using these guns. If someone has a sniper, then no matter what stay away! The mounted guns have no scope, no better vision and are no good at long range. If someone has a gun that is only accurate at close quarters, then these guys can be your best friend. There is one building on the edge of the map that has a gun, which you can use if your opponent's gun can only shoot at close range.

In a 2 on 2 Team Deathmatch with no sniper, it is good to have one guy get up on the gun, while another guy guards the door. If you see someone on a gun, but they haven't seen you, your best bet (unless you have a sniper) is to try and sneak around. If it is 2 on 2 and you see someone in the gun, but they don't see you, before entering the house shoot a few shots on either side of the door to destroy any campers (bullets can go through these walls).

In every building with a gun there are multiple entrances, and when going through one you can see the other. Before walking in, look at he other entrance and if you don't see any campers there, then you know to fire at this door and not to waste your bullets on the other one. Though you can throw a grenade, it is not always the best option as the person upstairs can hear the grenade, but firing one shot every two or three seconds through the wall can kill the person without being caught.

Choosing a good class[edit]

The best classes for this map are the Overwatcher, the two sniper classes, and the Ghost. The Overwatcher works good as a class that can do almost everything and is the best class for this map. The gun can take out machine gunners and the bazooka can also do the job. The two sniper classes, because there are many buildings from which to snipe, are good as well. The Ghost is really only handy in 2 on 2, as you can fire through the walls without being caught.
