In this scenario, you play as the Carthaginians under the command of Hannibal and his generals. The game lasts for 225 years from 219 BC to 6 AD. After the Carthaginians are defeated you must chose to select another civilization instead. The game proceeds on a quarterly basis but the turns are not numbered so you never really know what year it is.

There's a few flaws of this scenario: it does not show your Spanish colony's cities, so Novo Carthago is not located on the map. Your Hannibal Barca unit is cutoff located near the alps with a lump of troops to protect him but not enough to conquer Italy like in real life. If you play as these guys you should try to found more colonies or wage a war on Ptolemy and take Cyrene. Your strategy should be to send a flotilla of ships and get the general and his men out and return them to Carthage city. The other flaw is that all of the city placements are in the wrong locations in random locations.

City Placements list[edit]

This is the historically accurate version not the random version when you first begin the scenario you will have to use cheat menu to put these all in. and dont forget to make sure every city gets atleast 2 resource tiles.after you do this you save the game then quit the game then turn on the game again and re-load. this way all the resources for all the cities you added can be exploited.

Alternate strategy[edit]

Hannibal begins the game cut off from you geographically your options are to either reenforce him with more troops or pull him out (Recall) if you send him into italy with his small number of troops its a suicide mission A alternate strategy is to attack barbarians near your borders. The Libyans tribe is on your border and buffers between you and Ptolemy's empire its controlled by the non-playable barbarians tribe. the maker of the scenario did not put Libyans here in their right spot. you could conquer these guys also. Having a common border with the Egyptians will reduce piracy from barbarians this is critical because its impossible to negotiate with barbarians in the game. If you send reinforcements with the flotilla of ships to Barca's location, you could reinforce him and make his army big like his was in real life. the Biggest mistake Hannibal made in real life was that he did not sack the city of Rome when he had the chance. there was a point in the war when hes generals were advising him to sack Rome and win the war. But Hannibal refused to do this instead he conquered all the other cities except Rome thinking they would eventually surrender which they never did. if you reenforce Hannibal and you could seriously change the course of history if you decide to conquer Rome city.
