Secret Extra Life[edit | edit source]
On the first stage, do not strike the very first candle in the stage. If you leave this candle alone, then the 11th candle of the stage, found in the row of screens above, will provide an extra life.
Secret Rooms[edit | edit source]
Each stage in the game contains a secret chamber that cannot be entered by conventional means. These rooms may require that you pass through otherwise solid walls to access them. Others require special tricks. These rooms typically contain whip upgrade orbs and extra lives. Here is a catalog of each room.
When you begin to see tombstones (after climbing up two rooms with falling eye ball) climb the rope all the way up into the wall. Collect the items and power-ups in the bonus room.
After the long bridge section, Christopher will be in a room with three falling platforms and two rope exits. In order to reach the secret room, you have to follow a specific path. First, go down the right rope. Second, in the next room get the Cross of Invincibility and go down the left rope. Third, in the following room make one eyeball explode on the central ledge, then go down a hidden rope in the secret passage.
Near the very end of the stage, after clearing the long horizontal chamber with the spikes that chase after you from the right, you will climb a long rope up the left side of one room. You can jump into right wall to make your way into that stages secret chamber.
There is a wide room with a Night Stalker that throws boomerangs. To dodge the first boomerang that gets thrown at you, you must immediate hop off the rope to the right and squat down so the boomerang sails over you. Then be prepared to jump up as it quickly doubles back at a lower height. (If the Night Stalker starts by throwing the boomerang low, climb back down to the room below, and then back up to reset him.)
The secret chamber is above this room. In order to reach it, climb the rope to the right, then jump off and land on an invisible platform. In the center of the room there is an invisible rope that you can climb to access the secret.
