Brownie Brown Inc. is a subsidiary of Nintendo, consisting in part of a number of ex-Square employees. Many of these employees had been 2D artists that participated in the development of Legend of Mana, and two of its founders had participated in the development of the Seiken Densetsu series on the Game Boy and Super Nintendo.

According to their website, a Brownie is a hard-working elf, and the name of the Brownie in their logo is Brown.

In the US, they are probably best known for their recent work on the Seiken Densetsu series with Square Enix, including Sword of Mana and Heroes of Mana.
