These are distribution channels that are limited to certain games or systems. Most are online distribution methods, such as the Nintendo eShop, and Steam. Some distributors share the same name as the company that makes develops and runs them, so do not be confused. If the company has an online distribution service, we consider the service (e.g. Nintendo eShop) to be distributor, not the company (e.g. Nintendo).
Traditional distributors, who had physical distribution management for the shipping and handling of cartridges and discs, are not categorized here unless that is the only thing they ever did. Many distributors became or were also publishers.
