The Restaurant[edit | edit source]
You will start the level on the tables in the restaurant. Proceed to the right collecting all the crates you will find. There are often ranger plaques behind the crates. You can also jump on the windowsill, then, to return to the tables and stools, press the A button and the down button on the D-pad simultaneously. Be careful not to fall off the stool or you will lose a life. Along the way you will meet bees that drop honey and mice that throw forks, but they shouldn't cause you any problems. Just hit them with a chest to eliminate them. Continue to the right to reach the kitchen.
Here you will encounter a new type of enemy, who takes up a spoon. To eliminate it, you will have to hit it with a chest from behind. If you hit it from the front, it will push the crate back with the spoon and throw it at you; if it hits you, you will be stunned for a while (but you won't lose hearts). After hitting it once, the enemy will be stunned. At this point, you can hit it with another crate to eliminate it permanently, or grab it and throw it like a crate. Then there are some enemies disguised as crates, if you get close they will start walking. So be careful before you get too close. Continue to the right collecting all the crates and ranger plates that you will find. The path is very linear. After a short climb, you will see a bottle of coke in front of you. You will have to repeatedly jump on the cap, until it pops up. In this way, you can use the cap to make a long jump to the right, landing on the next bottle. Repeat the process to reach another bottle. The third time, you can use the bottle cap to reach a star and earn an extra life. Reaching the star, however, is extremely difficult and if you fall from the bottles you will not be able to try again. Continue to reach another screen.
Here too the path to follow is extremely linear. Keep moving forward by defeating enemies with crates and collecting ranger plates. When you come to a huge sink, grab the large chest at the bottom right. Zipper will come out, which will open the tap. Stay on the saucer you found in the chest; do not fall into the water or you will lose a life. Continue to proceed. On the next screen you will encounter Monterey Jack, who will completely restore your hearts. Continuing to the right, you will encounter a shady individual, Water Rabbit. The rabbit will inform you that it was he who planted the bomb in the restaurant, on Fatcat's orders, but this was only a diversion. Fatcat's real goal was to steal the Pharaoh's Urn and he has probably already taken it. You will then have to challenge Water Rabbit in combat.
- BOSS FIGHT
The fight takes place inside a dishwasher. You will have to move on the plates countering the current of the water, which tends to make you fall downwards. Water Rabbit will move around the room, stopping every now and then to attack you by throwing jets of water. You will have to avoid it and try to grab the boxes that fall from the top, to throw them at the boss. Nothing too difficult, but be careful not to fall to the bottom or you will lose a life. Hit Water Rabbit 6 times with crates to defeat him.
After defeating the boss, if you have collected at least 50 ranger plaques in this level, you will get a Ranger Badge. You will then have to face a mini-game. You will have to grab the red ball in front of you and throw it upwards, trying to hit the stars that move above you. You will have only one chance. The slower white one is worth an extra life, while the fast yellow one is worth 2.
You will then witness an intermission scene. Gadget has found the bomb and to defuse it she will have to cut a blue wire or a red wire. You will have to choose which one. Choose the one you prefer, the bomb will not explode in any case. If you choose the red one you will see a funny skit. The group will then decide to chase Fatcat to the port and retrieve the Urn of the Pharaoh. You will then leave through the sewers.
The Sewers[edit | edit source]
A very linear level. You will have to advance to the right, jumping on the pipes to reach all the crates and ranger plaques. You will also need to be careful not to fall into the sewage, or you will lose a life. Even if the ground looks frozen, you won't slip. You will encounter only three kinds of enemies in this level: a fish that jumps out of the slurry at regular intervals, fake crates that actually contain a snake (you will recognize them because they are slightly darker than the others) and a bat that, after seeing you, it will fly straight towards you. The safest way to eliminate the latter is to hide in a chest.
At some point, at the top, you will notice buttons that you cannot reach if you are playing alone. You can only reach them by playing in pairs. One player will have to grab and throw the other through the narrow gap. Once on the other side, the second player can press the first button, clearing the way for the first one. At this point, press both buttons to discover a secret entrance. Here the two players will have the opportunity to compete in basketball. At the end of the time the winner will have the possibility to choose a prize, among those contained in the four boxes.
The next screen is very similar to the first one and you shouldn't run into any particular problems. You will come to a point where you will have to climb upwards. Shortly after, continuing to the right, you will reach the boss of this level.
- BOSS FIGHT
This boss is similar to a fluttering bat. You will have to counter the flow of air caused by its wings, which will push you back. The boss will attack you by throwing two pieces of ice at you. Some will fall, while others will remain on the floor. Try to stay close enough to the boss so they don't end up off the screen. Collect them as if they were a chest and throw them at the boss. After attacking you, the boss will change position by moving from right to left (or vice versa). Sometimes it will slide on the ground and it is therefore better to jump on it to avoid it, while other times it will float in the air and you should go under it. Hit the boss 6 times with the ice pieces to take it out.
After defeating the boss, you will get a Ranger Badge if you have collected enough ranger plaques and you can earn an extra life or two by hitting the stars. You will then go directly to the next level.
On the Ship[edit | edit source]
Proceed to the right, jumping on the bags and lamps to reach all the crates and ranger plates. You will soon encounter a new type of enemy particularly tough. To hit the porcupines with a crate, you'll need to throw it close to the ground, or it will pass over it. You will also have to hit them from the back (or from below, if you are at a lower level); hitting them from the front the box will bounce off them without hurting them. At some point you will find a metal chest. You can carry it with you to attack enemies over and over again, as in the previous game, but you should throw it on the spikes below instead, to get through without losing a heart.
Climb on the crates and proceed to the right again. You will encounter some floating insects, which shouldn't cause you any problems. You will find a large chest containing a tennis ball. Throw it on the spikes on the right and climb on it, to reach the switch on the right unscathed. Press it to open a passage and enter it. You will meet Monterey, which will completely restore your hearts. Then climb upwards and proceed to the left. From this moment the path is extremely linear. Kill the monkeys and insects you meet with the crates by collecting the rangers plaques. Eventually you will meet the boss of the level.
- BOSS FIGHT
The fight with this sea dog takes place in a scrolling screen from bottom to top, with platforms. The boss will jump from platform to platform, stopping every now and then to drink from his bottle and spit a fiery breath. You will then have to quickly climb the platforms trying, if you can, to find yourself higher and higher than the boss. On the platforms you will find some crates: you will have to collect them and throw them at the boss. Nothing complicated. But be careful not to fall off the bottom edge of the screen, or you'll lose a life. Hit the boss 6 times to take it out.
You will get another Ranger Badge if you have collected enough ranger plaques. If you already have 3 ranger badges, your maximum life energy will increase from 3 to 4 hearts. Then, as usual, you will have the chance to earn extra lives by hitting the stars. At this point, you will have reached the port and Fatcat by ship. When you enter a warehouse, however, you will discover that Fatcat has set a trap for you and locked you in a giant refrigerator. You will only have 3 minutes to escape before freezing.
Giant Refrigerator[edit | edit source]
In this level you will have to be quick, because you have a maximum time of 3 minutes to respect. Proceed to the right, sliding on the ice, quickly collecting boxes and ranger plaques. Enemies will come at you gliding quickly, take them out with the crates. You will then have to climb upwards and proceed to the left. Here you will find fans: if you climb on them, they will make you float in the air. Then move to the left, floating and trying to catch the ranger plates, but if you can't, don't waste too much time. After another short stretch, you will have to go up again. Use the fans to take the ranger plaques. Then continue to the right, passing the fan. You will have to jump over the enemy you will encounter, because if you pass over the fans holding a crate, it will get out of hand. Jump over the small gap and resume climbing, using the fan and the large boxes. After climbing a bit, you will notice the exit. Reach it quickly to complete the level. If you were quick enough, you should still have 30 or 40 seconds left on the timer.
There is no boss to face in this level. After completing it, you will immediately get another Ranger Badge (if you have collected enough plaques) and you can get extra lives thanks to the usual mini-game. Soon after you will discover that Fatcat must have opened the Pharaoh's Urn, as there is a building completely overrun with ghosts. You will have to go there to retrieve the urn.
Haunted Building[edit | edit source]
Proceed to the right collecting the chests and ranger plaques. Some ghosts will come your way, but eliminating them shouldn't be a problem. To get rid of the candles completely, you will need 2 crates. After a short climb you will come to a section suspended over the void: be careful not to fall to the bottom. On the next screen the light comes and goes every few seconds. When the light goes out, a gelatinous monster will appear on the paintings and come towards you. You can't kill it, so just avoid it. Continue to proceed to the right by jumping on the candlesticks and collecting the ranger plaques. You will come to a point where you can climb to the top; before doing so, enter the hole on the right. You will meet Monterey, which will completely restore your hearts. Then go upwards using the candlesticks and enter another hole on the right, to face the boss.
- BOSS FIGHT
In this room, too, the light comes and goes. When the light is off, the ghost boss will appear. The boss will attack you in 2 ways: by throwing small energy beams at you, easy to avoid and dropping rocks, while it moves from right to left. Some of these rocks will remain on the floor, you can pick them up and throw them at the boss. Be careful: sometimes the ghost will come at you at great speed. You will have to be quick to move to the left corner of the screen and lower yourself. That's the only place where the boss can't touch you. Hit the boss 7 times with the rocks to take it out.
After defeating the ghost, you will earn another Ranger Badge if you have enough plaques. At the fifth Ranger Badge, your maximum energy will increase to 5 hearts, the maximum you can have. You can then play the usual minigame to earn lives. At this point, Chip and Dale will retrieve the Urn of the Pharaoh and the ghosts will disappear. Fatcat is spying on them though. He will let them know it's not over and will meet them at the amusement park. Here the rangers will discover that the entire amusement park is under the control of Fatcat. To access his lair, you need 3 keys, which are hidden in three different areas of the park: Western World, Clock Tower and Future World. You will then have the opportunity to choose in which order to face these levels, even if they are described below in the order mentioned.
Western World[edit | edit source]
The level starts with a very simple screen, in which you have to climb up some barrels collecting boxes and ranger placques, paying attention to the insects and porcupines. After that you will enter a mine. Here you will find yourself on top of a mine cart, with the rails suspended in the void. If you fall off the cart you will lose a life. The cart will automatically move to the right. To make it accelerate, you can push the lever to the front. Along the way, you will have to avoid rocks that fall from the mine ceiling. To do this, simply go slowly and stay on the left side of the cart - the rocks will fall before you pass. You will also have to jump to collect the ranger placques located on the path. At the end of the rails, jump to the right before the cart falls into the void and proceed to enter another mine. It is very similar to the first one, but here along the way you will also have to avoid some steel balls that swing hanging from a chain fixed to the ceiling. To avoid them it will be enough to lower yourself. Follow the path to the end and you will come to a third mine. Nothing new, even here. At the end of the rails, you will have to overcome a short path on foot, collecting the crates and paying attention to the bats. Proceed to the right to meet the level boss.
- BOSS FIGHT
This boss is a cat dressed as a magician, who will attack you by throwing playing cards at you. Collect the cards that remain on the floor and throw them at the boss. When the boss changes position, jump over it to avoid it, perhaps helping you with the platforms to the right and left of the screen. Nothing too complicated; however, be careful of its attacks because they are quite fast. Hit the boss 7 times to take it out.
After taking out the boss you can get another Ranger Badge (although you can no longer have any more hearts of energy) and attempt to hit the stars to gain extra lives. By completing the level you will have earned one of the three keys. You will now have to find the other two, choosing between the two remaining levels.
Clock Tower[edit | edit source]
This level is very vertical, with long climbing sequences. Proceed to the right for a short distance. In this level you will encounter two types of enemies. One of them suddenly pops out of the ground, throwing tools at you and you'll have to hit it with a crate when it's visible. The other releases electric discharges that travel close to the ground and that you must avoid. You can eliminate it by hitting it with a chest only when there is no electricity.
You will then have to start climbing upwards. Be careful as you move on the gears, as they are in constant motion. If you fall off the bottom of the screen you will lose a life. Keep going up collecting all the ranger plaques you encounter. You will come to another short horizontal section, which you will have to overcome by carefully jumping on the rotating platforms. Then resume climbing. The best way to take out enemies popping up from the ground is to hit them with a crate from underneath. Finally, you will come to a horizontal section, with three rotating platforms one after the other. Be very careful when jumping, so as not to fall into the void. On the right you will meet the boss.
- BOSS FIGHT
This boss is an ostrich riding a kind of gear-shaped unicycle. The boss will move back and forth across the screen, even at great speed. When it does, you'll have to jump over it, perhaps taking advantage of the platforms to the right and left. Every now and then the boss will stop and attack you by throwing gears. Collect the gears that remain on the ground and throw them at the boss. Hit it 7 times to take it out.
You will attend the usual screens, where you can get a Ranger Badge and earn extra lives. After completing the level you will be awarded another key. To find the last one, you will obviously have to face the last of the three levels of the amusement park.
Future World[edit | edit source]
Proceed for a short distance to the right, collecting the ranger plaques, then climb upwards. At the fork, keep to the right, to collect all the plaques, then go down and go up to the left. Along the way you will encounter the same enemies you fought in the Clock Tower. Continuing to the right, you will have to pass over some press-like machines. The best way to get past them is to walk over the steel platform when it is lowered.
In the next screen, proceed to the right, jumping over the gaps and defeating the mice with the slingshot. You will come to a point where there are metal platforms suspended above a large void. You will have to quickly jump from one to the other, because an instant later they open causing you to fall. Immediately after you will meet another of these platforms, before a step. Stand on it and let it open. You can then reach the passage on the right below. Here you will meet Monterey, which will restore your hearts. Passing from the passage above instead you will not meet him.
In the next room you will meet another old acquaintance: the mechanical dogs, which you can easily defeat with the crates. After a while on the right you will find a metal box. Grab it and walk slowly to the right. The crate will be attracted upwards by a magnet and you can then use it to reach the 1-up star at the top right. You will have to move slowly, so that the box protrudes far enough from the magnet, otherwise it will become useless. A little further on you will meet the boss.
- BOSS FIGHT
This boss is a gecko driving a large crane. You will have to avoid the steel spiky ball when it violently lowers it to the ground. When it does, metal pieces will lift up, which you can grab. To hit the boss though, you'll need to be to the right of the chain when you throw them. If you hit the chain or spiky ball, you won't get any results. You will then have to move skillfully, between the steel ball and the body of the crane, to hit the boss. When you hit it 8 times the boss will give up and you will have won the battle.
After possibly obtaining another Ranger Badge and extra lives, you will find the last key to access Fatcat's lair, where you can finally enter.
Fatcat's Lair[edit | edit source]
Proceed to the right collecting the ranger plaques (even if they are now completely useless). You will have to go over two conveyor belts. By hitting the levers with a crate, you can change the direction of movement, but it is not necessary. After a short climb, go right again. Be careful here, as birds will suddenly attack you from behind. Maybe hide in the crates to defeat them.
In the next screen you will have to be careful not to fall on the electrical discharges below or you will lose a heart. Jump carefully from one conveyor belt to another, avoiding or defeating with the crates the birds that will come towards you. At the end of this area you will encounter Monterey, which will completely restore your hearts.
You will then have to walk again on the conveyor belts, while avoiding the intermittent laser beams. You can change the direction of movement of the belts by pulling a box against the levers, if you are better off. After passing the lasers, the path becomes much easier. You will have to overcome a short distance by defeating mechanical dogs and collecting the plaques.
The next screen is somewhat treacherous. Attached to the ceiling are cannons that fire bouncing balls, which can be difficult to avoid. Along the way you will encounter several boxes, but it is not always convenient for you to take them. Sometimes it's best to leave them alone and use them as a trench to avoid getting hit by the balls. Continue to the right until you exit this area. In the last area of this level you will find several ranger plaques that form the word "DANGER" and some enemies with the spoon similar to those you encountered in the restaurant. You can easily defeat them with the crates you find on the spot. In the chests you can also find several acorns, which will allow you to completely restore your hearts before the final battle. Proceeding to the right you will finally meet Fatcat, who will leave you to fight against his latest creation: the Fatcat Robot.
- BOSS FIGHT
After a short sequence in which you will remain in the dark, the Fatcat Robot will appear in front of you. The fight goes like this: the robot will attack you in two ways, then it will go up, off the screen and come back down to a different position. He can land on the right of the screen, in the middle, or on the left. An arrow will show you where he will fall. Shortly before, a bomb with a timer will also drop from above, which you can collect. The boss can attack you in three different ways: it can throw the hand attached to his right arm towards you, in a straight line; it can throw the ball full of spikes attached to his left arm, which bounces around, or it can send electrical discharges from his tail, which move quickly, at low shot (if you are behind the boss, it can’t attack you). To defeat the boss more easily, it is therefore better to eliminate its weapons first: grab the bombs and throw them at its hand (if you are in front of the boss) or at the thorny ball (if you are behind), until they are destroyed. The tail, on the other hand, cannot be destroyed. You'll have to be quick to drop the bombs, or they might explode in your hand; if this happens, you will be stunned for a few moments. After clearing the weapons, focus on the main body. To damage it, you will have to throw bombs at it at the exact moment they explode. So help yourself with the timer. Sometimes, if the boss falls exactly where the bomb is, you can also do nothing: the bomb will explode and damage the boss automatically. After a few hits, the robot's body will start breaking and when it falls it will throw some flames: avoid them. This fight is not too difficult, although it will be quite long. Keep hitting the robot with the bombs until it is destroyed. If you succeed, you will have completed the game.
