Time: 8:00

Welcome to the game. If keyboard controls are selected, use the 9 and I keys to direct Danger Mouse's Mark III car up and down and avoid crashing into Greenback's robotic tanks, ducks, vultures and drills (the second of which also bear a strong resemblance to the original Count Duckula), while using the 1 and 2 keys to select the type of robot that is flying towards the car; when it matches, that respective type of robot's repellant tune will be heard from the car's radio. In the "easy" mode, this is initially done automatically, but you shall eventually have to select the correct type of robot yourself - and you shall receive between 10 and 35 points for repelling the robots, based on how quickly they were flying. The magenta ones are also Agent 57 in disguise; you'll also receive a special bonus of 570 points for flying into him (but you shall have to line up the car with him at the last moment, which will be impossible if he should appear at its current altitude, or just line it up so that it's still close enough to touch him). The bottom-right corner of the screen shows the view through the car's windscreen (Penfold and Danger Mouse will say "Crumbs!" and "Good grief!" whenever a robot comes flying towards the car) while the bottom-left corner shows the visual display unit of the car's computer - and it shows the remaining distance to the Jungle in miles (as well as a picture of the robot that it is currently set to repel). The centre of the screen also shows Greenback and Danger Mouse playing tug-of-war; the numbers on the left and right sides of them are skill levels that they are aiming for. You must try to work your way through the skill levels by repelling as many robots as you can (every robot repelled will cause Danger Mouse to pull to the right, while every robot missed will cause Greenback to pull to the left) - and the higher your skill level, the faster the car will fly, and the quicker Danger Mouse and Penfold will arrive at Episode 2: The Jungle (which takes up eight screens).
