The twelfth and final chapter takes place on the colony, where Issac follows Nicole's instructions to return the marker.

Supply Depot Door[edit]

When you exit the shuttle, Nicole will wait at the loader. You will need to move this loader to the shuttle, and activate the loader to move the marker into position. It can be dragged by the kinesis module.

[1]

The supply depot needs a power module to open the doors. It may be found in the building to the left, where you can obtain supplies from the store, upgrade weapons at the bench, and stamp on a few corpses. The module is found in the room on the right, guarded by two infectors that will try converting any intact corpse. After you retrieve the power module and head outside, you'll be attacked by one Divider.

Retrieve the power module and install it. This opens the doors to Gravity Tether Operations.

Combat: Gravity Tether Operations[edit]

When attempting to bring the marker into the area, a biohazard alert activates. Enemies will attack from two directions and in waves, consisting of a total of 6 enhanced slashers, 5 enhanced lurkers, and 3 exploders. There may be a pause in the attacks here.

To drag the marker forward, you will have to use the bridge. You may use stasis on the bridge to slow down its downward movement to give time for the marker to pass, but this is optional if you can press buttons quickly. If you find yourself needing to use stasis and run out, there's a few stasis recharge stations near the entrance. There is only one route available to the marker, simply drag it under the bridges and to the end of the room.

When the marker is near the exit, two more lurkers and exploders will attack.

Gravity Tether Core[edit]

The hive mind holding Issac upside down.

You're halfway through, but the bridges are out. You have to head to the control station to restore power, but there are two guardians in the way. You've fought them before, and can aim at the tentacles that are attached to the wall. If you have trouble, take cover behind the crates on the left or right.

The door leads to a tube with a zero-gravity field. There is an occasional lurker and leaper in the tube, and you can reach the end of the tube easily. At the end, you should find a stasis pack, and a stasis recharge station. Turn on the control panel by pulling the switch. On the return trip, there will be additional enemies, but you can run past them if desired. Use kinesis on the fans to run past them.

An enhanced brute appears in the main chamber. With the stasis recharge stations, you can slow it down, and move behind it to easily hit the weak spot. While it is slowed, you can inflict significant damage, and should be able to take care of it within a few cycles. Eliminating the brute gives you a power node.

Heading outside[edit]

The third step requires moving the marker around a corner.

There are no enemies in this room, but there is a power node in the corner.

The Pedestal[edit]

Once you are outside, the pedestal is shown at the end of the track.

Enemies will approach from two directions - two approaches from the vent attached to the building. The enemies are a mix of twitchers, lurkers, and slashers. In addition, there are three tentacles that will slam on the walkway you need to use to drag the marker.

At the halfway point, additional enemies will approach from the building.

Once the marker is in place, Nicole will thank you for returning the marker. However, the gravity tether for the asteroid above gets deactivated, and you will need to return to the shuttle. The escape route to the side is the fastest, but you're stopped by Kendra who explains the truth about Nicole, as stated in the first letter of each chapter title.

Hive Mind[edit]

The hive mind holding Issac upside down.

The trip back to the shuttle has no enemies, but it is slowed down by a sticky floor. Be sure to collect the power node on the trip back. The route also leads to a quantity of ammo, as well as returns you to the store and bench where you can make last minute upgrades and purchases. This generosity is due to the upcoming final boss fight.

After watching Kendra get killed by a tentacle, the hive mind will trap you in a small arena. Despite being large, it's normal attacks do not pose much of a threat, being dodged easily with a left-to-right movement.

There are three notable combat phases by the hive mind:

  1. In the first phase, it will slam tentacles and intimidate you with its five eyes. Simply shoot the eyes as normal. The next phase starts when there are two eyes left, therefore you may want to equally damage the eyes to make sure the second phase proceeds as quickly as possible.
  2. In the second phase, the hive mind will grab you and hold you upside down. The aiming controls are rotated, although usual method of likewise rotating the controller handles this. There is a time limit of about 40 second before the hive mind bites through the crunchy exterior of your armor to get the nice and soft interior.
  3. The third phase reverts to the tentacle slam that is easily dodged. However, it will occasionally expose the ribcage with five yellow sacks. If you fail to destroy at least one of these sacks, it will spit out an enemy Pregnant.

When all sacks in the chest are destroyed, the hive mind will collapse. The hive mind will fling itself towards the platform as a last ditch attempt, which may kill Issac if he is too close.

Enter the shuttle and watch the final cutscene. As a reward for completing the game, you receive 50000 credits, 10 power nodes, the level 6 armor, and impossible difficulty. You may also save a clear game state to go through the game again with upgraded equipment.
