Controls[edit]

Dirt Fox control panel.png
  • Steering Wheel: Use the steering wheel to steer your car left and right just as you would any real car; if you are using MAME to play this game, the equivalent of the steering wheel will be the left and right arrow keys by default, and the sensitivities can be adjusted on the "Analog Controls" menu.
  • Gas Pedal: Not shown in the image above, but you must step on the gas pedal to accelerate your car; for MAME, the equivalent of the gas pedal is the left Ctrl key by default (but you may wish to change it to the up arrow), and the sensitivity can again be adjusted, in the "Analog Controls" menu.
  • Break Pedal: Also not shown in the image above, but step on the break pedal to decelerate your car; in MAME, the equivalent of the break pedal is the left Alt key by default (but you may wish to change it to the down arrow) and the sensitivity can once again be adjusted in the "Analog Controls".
  • Gear Shift: Use the gear shift to change the gear that your car is driving in from "LOW" to "MID" to "TOP"; in MAME, the equivalent of the gear shift is the space bar by default (but you may wish to change it to that left Ctrl key). This is the first time a car in a Namco racer has more than two gears.

Characters[edit]

Player Cars (プレイヤーカーズ)[edit]

CPU Cars (シーピーユーカーズ)[edit]

Dirt Fox CPU Car.png

If one player is playing this game alone, then his position in the race will never change from "1/1", regardless of how many of these purple CPU-controlled cars he passes; however, if two, three or four players are playing, and any of the other players are ahead of the first player in the race at any time, the first player's position will be 2/2, 3/3 or 4/4. Unlike in other Namco racing games, ramming another car won't cause your own to explode.
