Gags are your weapon against Cogs. The goal of using Gags is to make your enemy laugh, as the sourpuss Cogs can only take so much good humor before exploding. You can buy Gags for 1 Jellybean at shops in the different neighborhoods. You start being able to carry only 20 Gags at a time, but as you get bigger backpacks for completing certain Toontasks, that capacity will increase to the maximum of 80.

Gags are split up into different Gag Tracks, for which you gain experience by using the Gags in that track. Gags start out as level 1 and go up to level 7, and you get a number of experience for using each gag that is equal to its level. For instance, using the Feather Gag on a Cog will gain you 1 experience point for your Toon-Up Gag Track. The seventh level Gags are different from the others, in that you carry one at a time with no impact on your inventory, and you don't buy them in shops. The level 7 Gags are gained for every 500 experience points you get in that Gag Track and are effective against all the Cogs at once.

The following sections are details on each Gag Track.

Toon-Up

Toon-Up Gags are the only way to heal in combat, so are seen as an essential Gag by many players. At certain levels, the maximum Laff Boost is divided by the number of Toons in your group, shown as n in the table. Toon-Up Gags are the first Gags to be used in strategic order of Gags. They are the basic tricks, gags and stunts performed by real class clowns to get people laughing. Toon-Up is one of the two choices when first starting out for Gag Tracks, along with Sound.

Level Toon-Up Max Laff Boost EXP Needed
1 Feather 10 N/A
2 Joke Megaphone 18/n 20
3 Lipstick 30 200
4 Bamboo Cane 45/n 800
5 Pixie Dust 70 2,000
6 Juggling Balls 120/n 6,000
7 High Dive 210/n 10,000

Trap

The Pros of using Traps are that they are the most powerful Gag in the game, even stronger than Drop. Their accuracy is always 100% because when lured in, there is no way it can fail. When used on something of its level it will destroy it. Also, it increases the chance of a lure gag hitting. The con is that you can only use one Trap at a time on one cog; if two are used, they will both disappear.

Level Trap Max Damage EXP Needed
1 Banana Peel 12 N/A
2 Rake 20 20
3 Marbles 35 100
4 Quicksand 50 1,000
5 Trapdoor 70 2,000
6 TNT 180 6,000
7 Train Track 195 10,000

Lure

Instead of doing damage or healing, Lures stop enemy Cogs from attacking for a number of turns. The Bills can be used on only one Cog, but the others affect all enemies. Using Lures also affects other Gags, used by either you or others:

  • Trap: Lure is required for use with Traps.
  • Sound: Wakes up Cog without giving user boost or EXP.
  • Throw: 1.5 × Damage
  • Squirt: 1.5 × Damage
  • Drop: Always misses.
  • Wrap: Multiplies how to cog's level is to take damage to defeat him/her.

Level Lure Number of turns lured EXP Needed
1 $1 Bill 2 N/A
2 Small Magnet 2 20
3 $5 Bill 3 100
4 Large Magnet 3 800
5 $10 Bill 4 2,000
6 Hypnotising Goggles 4 6,000
7 Presentation 15 10,000

Sound

Sound affects all cogs, but isn't very strong. Sometimes if you don't have Sound your toon is considered handicapped by other players. These attack ranges listed below are organic.

Level Sound Max Damage EXP Needed
1 Bike Horn 4 N/A
2 Whistle 7 40
3 Bugle 11 200
4 Aoogah 16 1,000
5 Elephant Trunk 21 2,500
6 Foghorn 50 7,500
7 Opera Singer 90 10,000

Throw

Throw is a basic Gag, that has so-so accuracy and fairly high damage, and can only be used against one Cog at a time (apart from the level 7 wedding cake). Using multiple Throws multiplies the damage formula.

Level Thrown Object Max Damage EXP Needed
1 Cupcake 6 N/A
2 Fruit Pie Piece 10 10
3 Cream Pie Piece 17 50
4 Whole Fruit Pie 27 400
5 Whole Cream PIe 40 2,000
6 Birthday Cake 100 6,000
7 Wedding Cake 120 10,000

Squirt

Squirt is another straightforward Gag, like Throw, but has slightly better accuracy and slightly worse damage. Also like throw, a multiplier is employed when using more than one Squirt on an enemy, and it can only be used against one Cog at a time (also doesn't apply for the level 7 geysers).

Level Item Max Damage EXP Needed
1 Squirt Flower 4 N/A
2 Glass of Water 8 10
3 Squirt Gun 12 50
4 Seltzer Bottle 21 400
5 Fire Hose 30 2,000
6 Storm Cloud 80 6,000
7 Geyser 105 10,000

Drop

Drop has very high damage, but low accuracy. Drops never hit Lured Cogs, and like Throws and Squirts, it can only be used against one Cog at a time (with the exception of the Toontanic lvl7 gag) and uses the same multiplier for multiple Drops on a Cog.

Level Drop Max Damage EXP Needed
1 Flower Pot 10 N/A
2 Sandbag 18 20
3 Anvil 30 100
4 Big Weight 45 500
5 Safe 60 2,000
6 Piano 170 6,000
7 Toontanic 180 10,000
