Starting location[edit]

The party starts in view of the Earth Prince's castle, just west of the castle, facing eastwards.

How to get oriented[edit]

In the Atari ST, Amiga, and MS-DOS versions (1989-1990), you should wait for sunset. As in the real world, the sun sets in the west and rises in the east. Unlike the real world, the moon at night is fixed to the south.[1] During the day it is more difficult to determine your direction.

In the SNES port (1991), simply press Select Button or Start Button to see the map of Drakkhen island with your location and a compass showing your heading.

  1. In the real world, not only the sun, but also the moon and all the stars rise in the east and set in the west, because it is the Earth itself that rotates.

Hordtkhen's castle[edit]

  • Original name: Hordtkhen
  • SNES name: Hordkhen

West grasslands[edit]

The houses[edit]

The inn[edit]

In the computer versions, your characters can spend money to learn hints.

In the SNES port, a merchant can always be found at the inn (in the computer versions, he was located in the icy north). Also, in the SNES port only wandering merchants appear randomly on the roads.
