Controls[edit]

  • Q, A, O, and P: In the ZX and CPC versions (which are impossible to finish), you must use these four keys to make Edd jump up, walk left, walk right, and jump down; however, in the C64 and Amiga versions, you will have to use a joystick for moving instead. You can also press Space to make Edd shoot snowballs at enemies, H to pause the game in the ZX and CPC versions (RunStop in the C64 version) and 1 (ZX), Esc (CPC), and Q (C64) to abort it, in the 8-bit versions (but you should only do this if you have no chance of winning, i.e. when you reach Stage 7 for the ZX or CPC version, as it cannot be finished). The cheat codes for the CPC and Amiga versions are also going to be described on the next page.

Edd the Duck[edit]

ETD Edd.png

The protagonist of the game; he is described as a "superstar, pop singer, and all round cool dude" (but is in reality just a squeaking puppet), and is starting a new series on BBC1 (which is split into nine episodes, and is to chronicle his escapades around the various departments of the BBC Television Centre). In each episode (stage), he must collect twenty stars before he can proceed to the next one; if he gets hit by an enemy filming will stop and he will lose one of his four takes (lives). The "Special Effects Boffins" have armed him with a "Snowball Shooter" which he can use to freeze enemies for a short period of time - but as mentioned above, the seventh stage (Children's Department, Episode 1) is impossible to finish in the ZX and CPC versions, because it only has nineteen stars instead of twenty (but the C64 and Amiga versions correct this).
