Mad Doctor's Lab[edit]

When the game begins, Gus will tell you that you need to destroy the mechanical arm created by the Mad Doctor. To do this, jump over to the control panel where Gus is hovering. He will tell you that to destroy it, you need to perform a spin attack on the panels. After you do one, he will tell you that you need to do one more. Spin the control panel one more time to destroy it. When this is done, there will be one more control panel that needs to be shut down. Perform two spin attacks on the control panel, and the arm will be shut down.

After the mechanical arm is gone, Gus will open the way to the next area. A secret treasure room will also be revealed. Go into the treasure room to find a treasure chest with a BRONZE PIN. There are many pins all over to be collected, as Gus will tell you (105 to be exact). You can also find EXTRA CONTENT here, which is a collectible piece of art that can be viewed in the Extras menu. If you want, you can also skip the treasure room and just head straight out the doors that Gus is hovering next to.

Utilidor III[edit]

In the cutscene movie, Gus will teach you about your magic brush. There are two kinds of liquids, paint and thinner. Thinner can erase objects, and Paint will restore them. After Gus is done talking, head down the hallway until you come to a door with gears. Paint in the middle gear to get the gears turning, and the door will open. Continue down the hallway until you come to a door with a thinner pit in front. Don't fall in, you'll lose health, but instead thin out the framework around the door. The door will fall forward, and make a bridge over the thinner, allowing you to proceed. Keep going and you will find a gigantic pile of rocks on the floor. Thin out the floor below them and they will disappear into a thinner pool. Now paint in the area where the floor was and it should reappear without the rocks. You will now be able to exit the hallway and get into the next area.

The Courtyard[edit]

When you enter Dark Beauty Castle's courtyard for the first time, you will be shown your first enemy of the game. These are Seers, who will fight for the Shadow Blot (the one who captured you and pulled you into this world). They are part of the Blotling Army. Luckily, these are the easiest Blotlings to fight. The Seers will let out loud alarm beeps when they spot you, before curling into a ball and rolling at you. Getting hit by a rolling Seer will cause you to lose health, but the attacks are easy to dodge. Fight back by spraying your choice of paint or thinner at them. If you cover them in paint, they will become friendly and fight any enemies for you. If you cover them with thinner, they will melt away into the ground and die.

Once you have dealt with the Seers, go over to a pressure plate with a red ticket on it and spin move the gear three times. This will reveal a treasure chest full of E-Tickets (the currency in this game) and a caged gremlin (named Calvin). You have a choice: you can either take the chest with the money, or free the gremlin, who will repay you later. You can't do both.

We suggest freeing Gremlin Calvin, because there is a special pin later in the game that cannot be won if you do not free him, but if you do not care about the pin or you would rather have the tickets, you can take the chest instead. If you free Calvin, he will award you a GOLD PIN.

If you want to, spray the left staircase with thinner, to reveal some EXTRA CONTENT. Also, you can thin out a bright pink door on the left wall. In here is a treasure chest containing the DARK BEAUTY CASTLE PIN. Now you can get on with your quests. Paint the staircase back in and climb up until you come to a stack of blocks blocking the way forward. Gus will instruct you to thin them out. Do that and then continue up. There are some gaps here that can be filled in by painting them. Keep going until you reach a gear. Gus will tell you to spin move it. Do so, and part of the gate will open. To continue on, however, you must keep making your way up until you come to a set of blocks. These blocks can't be thinned, but the floor under them can. Thin the floor to make them drop down, then paint the floor back in. Repeat this with another set of blocks, and then make your way to the second gear. Spin that, and the gate will open. Head towards the screen. A cutscene will play, explaining the projector screens, which act as portals throughout the game. Now you can enter the projector, MICKEY AND THE BEANSTALK.
