There are five game modes available currently, Death Match, Team Death Match, Last Stand,Capture The Flag and Territory Control. They are all time limited with the winner decided by the amount points obtained within that time limit. Draws occur when the round ends and there is an equilibrium in points on both teams or in separate players. Winners get more experience and credit than the losers.

Death Match[edit]

Death Match is the standard melee mode, where all participants in the room are engaged in free-for-all battle. Everyone is on their own team. The winner is based on the calculated amount of kills, deaths, and assists at the end of the round time limit.

Team Death Match[edit]

Similar to Death Match as in the main objective for victory is in killing the other team. However, in Team Death Match, you reside in one of two teams, the blue or red team. For one team to win, it must have a higher point contribution than the other. Killing players is only one of three sources of points for this mode, you can also acquire points through assists, which are gained by doing a certain amount of damage to an enemy and not killing them yourself or by healing a teammate. The winning team is the team with the higher total point contribution at the end of the round time limit.

Last Stand[edit]

This "stage mode" in Exteel allows for players to team together and battle NPC enemies who will try to invade and convert aerogates that start out belonging to you. You win by holding off the enemies for the set time limit. You lose if they completely invade and convert an aerogate. Last Stand mode has many difficulty levels that increase the number of aerogates that you and your team must defend. It also increases the level of the NPC enemies, giving them more health, damage, and better artificial intelligence.

Territory Control[edit]

This mode of gameplay involves invading and taking over neutral and enemy aerogates. The act of taking over the aerogates contributes points to your team. If allowed, the two teams at some point in the round are able to travel to the other side of the map and attempt to take over the main base of the enemy. If successful, the game is ended instantly and team that successfully invaded the enemy base are the decided winners. In the rare and amusing event where both teams attempt to neutralize and convert each others' aeroport bases at the same time and succeed, the game does not end in a tie, but the bases for the teams are switched instead.

Capture The Flag[edit]

This mode of game will give you a chance to take the flag from the opposing team. You also can take over aerogates and protect them. Capture the Flag is also called ``CTF´´. CTF is fun to play with anyone - friends and strangers. Each side starts at their own base location (an Aerogate), which also contains that side’s flag. The object of the CTF match is to grab the opposing team’s flag and return it to their home base, which must contain the home flag. An enemy flag brought to the home base in this fashion is considered Captured and a Flag Capture Point is rewarded to that team (the flag will then return to its home base after ten seconds).

If the home flag is not present (the other team is bringing it back to their base), then the flag cannot be Captured until the home flag is returned. A flag will return to home base in one of two ways after it is "dropped": it sits idle in the arena for ten seconds or when a friendly player walks over it. Flags will only drop when an opponent destroys the flag carrier (or the flag carrier deserts the match).
