Controls[edit]
- Joystick: Use the 8-way joysticks to direct the players of your chosen team around the pitch; they will all move simultaneously, like the outfielders in World Stadium. The goalkeepers, however, are limited to their area - but they can still hit the puck with their sticks when you press the Shoot Button.
- Shoot Button: Use this button to make the players of your chosen team hit the puck with their sticks; some playing techniques are on the next page.
- 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to initiate Tournament mode or Versus mode; you will play against the CPU and each other respectively.
Passing (パッシング)[edit]
While you are in possession of the puck, you can push the button on top of the joystick while you are pushing the joystick in a direction, to pass the puck to another player; however, you should make sure that the other player is on the same team as you before doing this, as you may inadvertently give him the opportunity to shoot the puck into the back of your own team's goal and score a point as described below, if he happens to be on the opposing team and is standing near the goal. Just like in real hockey, it is also possible to shoot the puck into the back of your own goal and put your opponents ahead.
Shooting (シューティング)[edit]
While you are in possession of the puck (and standing in front of the opposing team's goal), you can push the button on top of the joystick while pushing the joystick in a direction to shoot the puck into the back of the goal and score a point; three female cheerleaders with turquoise, blue and green hair will then do a dance in front of an advertisement for four other Japan-exclusive Namco games released earlier in the last third of 1988: Ordyne, Metal Hawk, World Court written in Katakana as Wārudo Kōto ワールドコート, and Splatterhouse. The blue-haired cheerleader also looks somewhat like Miyuki Chan.
Passing Shot (パッシングショット)[edit]
While you are in possession of the puck and standing in front of the opposing team's goal with another player who is on the same team as you, you can push the button on top of the joystick while pushing the joystick in the desired direction, in order to pass the puck to your team-mate, who will then have the opportunity to shoot the puck into the back of the goal and score a point, as described above; once you perfect use of these three important playing techniques, you will be ready to start. Novice players should initiate Versus mode but more experienced players may want to initiate Tournament mode.
