Fantasy Zone stage pocarius.gif

The seventh round is called Pocarius, and it takes place world of tropical island paradises. This world is the enemy's last line of defense before you take the fight to their home planet. The bases have the most unique arrangement of any stage. To deal with that, you should purchase a 7-Way Shot and one Heavy Bomb from the shop. When you leave the shop, activate the Heavy Bomb, but leave your main weapon on Twin Shot. Just to the right of where you start should be two bases, one directly over the other. It is on this pair that you should activate the Heavy Bomb. The Select balloon will then appear, at which time you should switch to your 7-Way Shot, and back to the Twin Bombs. Then destroy as many of the remaining bases as possible with the 7-Way Shot.

Occupants[edit]

Base[edit]

The bases in Pocarius are called Roringas. They behave very much like the bases from the first stage in that they bob up and down slightly in mid-air. Also like the first bases, they deposit Kirikiri enemies from the lower hatch. However, they are much stronger than the first bases, and take quite a lot more firepower to defeat.

Enemies[edit]

Pata² Poyon

Pata²s are the only new enemy in this level. They fly onto the upper portion of the screen in a formation of eight, and zig zag down the screen while firing at you.

The tough new enemy Mockstar appears on there on in this stage. They typically arrive in groups of 2 or 3, and they are just as determined to attack you as ever.

Quili-Quili Sawsang

By now, this common enemy from all the way back in Plaleaf should be a familiar sight. They are no more dangerous than before, but the bases will pump them out at a high rate.

Fantasy Zone enemy sousan.gif

Another common enemy first seen in Plaleaf, the Sawsangs continue their tactic of flying onto the screen in a linear formation.

Bont Asworm

This difficult enemy from Dolimicca shows up in an effort to surround you from above and crush you with the size of their squadron. Expect many more to show up here than before.

The Opa-Opa hunting enemies from Tabas will show up in Pocarius, but only very late into the stage. If you manage to defeat the bases quickly enough, you may not even see one.

Thaya-Thaya
Fantasy Zone enemy sayasaya.gif

This vertical formation enemy originally spotted in Polaria shows up here as well. It is important to blast them as soon as you see them since they will fire upon you as quickly as they appear.

Boss[edit]

Fantasy Zone boss ida2.gif

The boss of Pocarius is a giant face known as Ida 2. Among the enemy troops, he is considered a great person, and the personal body guard of the leader. This large face can actually break himself up into 30 individual pieces which he can command to reconstruct at any place in space at will. His method of attacking is to break up into pieces, determine Opa-Opa's current location, and re-form on that spot, crushing Opa-Opa in the process. You must be quick to move Opa-Opa out of the way. Once you choose a direction to move in, don't stop moving in the direction or you are likely to get crushed. Ida 2 is only vulnerable when he is completely reconstructed, and it only takes a couple of seconds for him to break apart once more, so you must be ready to hit him as rapidly as possible before he splits up. Each time Ida 2 breaks and re-forms, he speeds up his splitting and rejoining, no matter if attacked or not. Try to dash between the left and right sides of the screen as you attack him. If you manage to kill him close to the bottom of the screen, it becomes considerably easier to collect the large horde of coins he drops.
