Climbing the mountains[edit | edit source]

Now that you have the Sky Shoes, it's time to look for the person who can help you. Before you embark on that quest, be sure to teleport to Tegza and spend all the money that you've obtained on items like a Fire Sword, or even a Muramasa if you can afford it. Once you're ready, return to Ehdo.

At this point, there is a section of the map that you have probably avoided until now: the massive forest between Ehdo and the castle. Nestled near the bottom of this forest is a mountain woman who, even if you successfully reached her, was uninclined to help you out. However, now that you have the Sky Shoes, she will change her tune.

  • MOUNTAIN WOMAN: Oh, you have a pair of Sky Shoes. I will transport you up to the Sky World with my mystical power.

You will arrive in a land composed of clouds. There aren't a lot of features here. Probably the most interesting one is the castle located near the southern boarder of this world. However, all that you will find in there is a lonely sky mage.

  • SKY MAGE: If you are looking for a magic rope, find the narrow hole and jump through it!

And with this advice, the sky mage tells you everything that you need to know. There are actually only two holes to try jumping through, one of which will land you in the water and you automatically swim yourself to safety (and you'll have to start the process over). The other, however, lands you safely on an island where you'll discover the Magic Rope.

Using the magic rope[edit | edit source]

To use the magic rope, you must simply walk up to the sides of mountain ranges. The scene will black out momentarily, and when it reappears, you will be standing on a mountain. A similar process will occur when you want to climb down. There are a couple of items hidden in the overworld which were previously inaccessible, which you can now find by climbing over particular mountains, including:

  • A garnet behind the mountains near Somusa
  • An emerald on the mountains near Karuza

In addition, there are a few other hidden items which you don't need the rope for, including:

  • A Gold Bag on a peninsula south of the castle.
  • A Gold Bag on the peninsula north of Karuza.
  • A Gold Bad on the peninsula south of Shilf.
  • There is a Gold Bag in the NW quadrant of the desert near Teodoor.
  • Two Gold Bags hidden in the forest next to Broww Tower.

New locations in the mountains[edit | edit source]

The mountain hut

It may not seem obvious where to head next now that you've got the rope. You're meant to explore the few mountain tops that are scattered around the world. If you make your way down to Riria, and explore the mountains west of there, you will discover a little town towards the back. This is the town of Zellia.

Zellia doesn't have much in terms of inhabitants, but the old man who lives there will reveal that the princess you've been dealing with the whole time is actually an imposter. To help you find the real princess, he gives you an item called the Crystal of Truth, and he instructs you to use them at the Phantom Towers.

  • OLD MAN: The Crystal of Truth can also reflect the world's events.
  • WISEMAN: We are here to watch over the people of Faria.
  • OLD MAN: Thank you for coming. The princess in the castle is an imposter. The wizard is doing all this in order to take over Faria and obtain the royal scrolls. The wizard stole the scrolls from the king and poisoned the caviar to confuse you. Now all of Faria is about to surrender! I will give you the crystal of truth. Use the Crystal of Truth in the presence of the Phantom Towers.

Phantom Tower[edit | edit source]

The Phantom Tower is a location you can only find by climbing over some mountains. The mountains east of Somusa to be exact. If you do this, you'll see a set of six towers arranged in a circle. Only one of them is real, but you can only enter the real tower if you reveal it. This is where the Crystal of Truth comes in handy. Use it and the six towers will reduce to one.

Revealing the real tower is the easy part. Navigating the tower's interior is much harder. Unlike the other towers, this tower only has one floor. However, the rooms in this tower do not connect linearly, making it extremely difficult to map out. Some corridors seem to stretch forever without end. Other exits warp space and connect to other rooms. It may seem like you have to wander forever in hopes of finding the boss. The truth is, if you know exactly where to go, this tower is extremely short.

Navigating the Phantom Tower

To make your way through the Phantom Tower, enter the first room, and walk left for two screen. Then walk north for two screens. Then west two more screens. At this point, head south once to find the room where Hyperspeed 3 is kept if you wish to collect it. Then simply walk straight up until you come face to face with the Tower boss.

BOSS:[edit | edit source]

This boss is similar to the one you faced in the Cave of Somusa. It will follow you around, as you try to pelt it with arrows or sword slashes. If you managed to pick up Hyperspeed 3 in the tower, you will be significantly faster than the boss, and able to easily outrun it. It may take some time, however, to adjust to the very fast speed that Hyperspeed3 provides you with.

If you manage to defeat the boss, you will find the real princess waiting for you in the room above. She will be unfamiliar with you, but rescue her and take her back to the castle.

  • PRINCESS: Who are you? (I am here to rescue you.) The Wizard kidnapped me in order to get the royal scrolls. The scrolls show how to magically create a dragon.

King's castle[edit | edit source]

Back in the castle, a conversation will take place between the real princess and the imposter, revealing all that has happened.

  • GUARD: I cannot let you pass, by order of the princess. Oh, you are the princess! Please come in.
  • GUARD: What? Another princess?
  • FAKE PRINCESS: Who is it? I told you not to come in here.
PRINCESS: I was rescued from your trap. Wizard, your scheme has failed!
FAKE PRINCESS: All of my followers are helpless! They have been defeated by mere mortals! Now I shall condemn you to another world!

BOSS: the Wizard[edit | edit source]

Revealed as the wizard who disguised himself as the princess, he will now attempt to attack you. You may be bracing yourself for a difficult fight, but the wizard is surprisingly easy. He is invisible though, so be sure to switch to the magic glasses so you can fight him effectively. Once you defeat him, the rest of the story will play out.

  • A voice can be heard from where the Wizard was slain: "Who would have thought that I could be defeated! I shall transfer my spirit into the body of a dragon!"
  • KING: Oh, you are safe! I never thought that the mysterious masked man would assume the shape of the princess!
  • At that moment, light engulfed the Hero. The curse of the Wizard was broken! To everyone's surprise a man appeared out of the light!
  • HERO: Your Highness, I am a prince of the frontier country. I was transformed into a woman by the curse of the Wizard.
PRINCESS: I did not know she was a man!
  • Suddenly it became very cold. KING: It looks like the Wizard has shielded the sun from all of Faria. The Wizard must be defeated!
HERO: How can I defeat a Wizard who has become a dragon? He is immortal!
PRINCESS: You still have time. You can slay the dragon before the Wizard's soul and the body become one.

You will not find yourself transformed from the woman you've been to the man you once were. It's time to find the wizard's lair and defeat him once and for all.
