Before the mission[edit]

With the capsule from Riria in hand, return to Ehdo and head directly to the hospital. There, the nurse will take responsibility for administering the cure to the rest of the town. They will be grateful for your effort. In addition to thanking you for saving them, some townsfolk will comment on something strange occurring in the castle. After you resupply, make that your next destination.

Back in the castle, the guards are alarmed, and the king won't speak. Only the princess can inform you of what's taken place. The king has been turned to stone by someone wielding an evil power. Your goal now, until the end of the game, is to find and defeat that someone.

If you return to Ehdo at this point, new conversation will emerge around Somusa, so head to the north and over the bridge to the village of Somusa.

Thankful Ehdo

  • WOMAN, GUARD: I am well now, thanks to you.
  • WOMAN, INNKEEPER: Thank you for your help.
  • MAGE: Thank you.
  • GIRL: I am well now, thanks to you.
  • WISEMAN: Thank you. But who was that masked man?
  • WISEMAN: You are a blessing in disguise!
  • GUARD: The tool shop owner would like to ask you for a favor.
  • SHOPKEEPER: Strange things seem to be happening in the castle. Would you please go and take a look? You are the only one who can enter the castle.
  • WEAPONS MERCHANT: Strange things seem to be happening in the castle.

King's castle

  • KING'S GUARDS: The king has been transformed into stone!
  • PRINCESS: My father has been transformed into stone! You must destroy the evil one who cast this spell, so that we can bring my father back to life! Go quickly, we have not much time!

Town of Ehdo

  • WOMAN: Oh, my goodness! The king has been transformed into stone!
  • SHOPKEEPER: It is an emergency! The king has been transformed into stone!
  • GUARD: I have heard that strange things are happening in the township of Somusa.
  • WISEMAN: Be careful! Things are not as they appear to be!
  • WOMAN: Go to the township of Somusa!

Return to Somusa[edit]

The townspeople at Somusa have a lot of new information to share. They mention a goddess in a nearby lake, and the fact that certain underground monsters do not like golden arrows. Be sure to buy a set of arrows before you leave, and then exit Somusa. Walk around the body of water above Somusa until you are standing on a small peninsula along the north coast and the scene will change. Use your arrows at this time and a goddess will appear to ask you if you threw the arrows in. For your honesty, she will reward you with the Golden Arrow. The Golden Arrow is like an upgrade for your arrow supply. Once you use it, every arrow will be considered a Golden Arrow. Do not randomly drop weapons into the lake hoping to obtain other golden upgrades. Instead of receiving the goddess' blessing, you will be fined 100 gold for literring.

Town of Somusa

  • GIRL: Did you know that someone saw a goddess in the lake nearby?
  • WOMAN: A man who lost an axe in the lake spoke truthfully to the goddess, and she gave him a golden axe.
  • MAN: The underground monsters do not like golden arrows.
  • SHOPKEEPER: There is another continent covered with shrub and trees beyond the cave.
  • WISEMAN: The mysterious man in the mask has a scarlet body and two horns.
  • HEALER: The Phantom Towers are still there.

Lake of Somusa

  • GODDESS: Did you lose this arrow? Yes? Thank you for answering me honestly. I shall bequeath upon you a golden arrow!

Underwater cave[edit]

Equipped with the Golden Arrow, it is now time to brave the danger of the cave east of Somusa. It is dark just like the cave north of Karuza, so you'll need a Light, along with a backup battery or two just in case. You'll also need a good supply of arrows, and it's a good idea to bring many Salves too. Even if you are successful making it through the cave, it's going to be a long journey before you reach another hospital.

Your goal will be to start from the entrance staircase near the bottom, and navigate your way to the exit staircase which can be found by reaching the upper left portion of the cave and then coming down a bit. However, navigating the cave wont be your only challenge. Along the way to the exit, you will be forced into a fight with the boss of the cave, and this boss is only vulnerable to attacks from the Golden Arrow. If you have not used the Golden Arrow in your inventory yet, do so in the fight. After you strike the boss with a number of arrows, you will defeat it, and be free to continue on your way to the exit, which can be found just a little further in to the right.

North continent[edit]

Upon exiting the cave, you will arrive along the southern coast of a brand new continent. You still have a long walk before you reach the safety of a new town. Start by walking north through the canyon between the mountains. When you clear the mountains, you may see a port to the east. However, speaking with the seaman there will prove fruitless, as he won't ferry any foreigners at this time.

Instead, you'll have to journey to the west. This will take you across the bulk of the continent, which is broken up into patches of desert. On the far west side of this area, there are two ways to go, and both lead to new towns. For now, you want to take the northern path, which sees you traverse long narrow strips of land which create a barrier around an island in the middle. Once you double back to the right, a new town will come into view.

Town of Teodoor[edit]

Teodoor doesn't have a lot going on, but it's townfolk have some concerns, and it's stores carry some interesting items. In particular, Teodoor has a great supply of weapons, including very powerful swords, and a variety of bows to choose from. In the item shop, you'll find Hyperspeed2, which can make you even faster in battle. The Hospital sells Poultice drinks, which are even more effective than Salves.

The townsfolk are most worried about a man eating elephant somewhere on the island to the north. The town elder asks you to defeat the elephant so they can continue to harvest fruit from the island. There are also lizardmen wandering around town, but you can't understand them.

  • MAN: This is the township of Teodoor.
  • ELDER: Please defeat the man-eating elephant on the nearby island. We cannot harvest fruit there because the elephant will eat us!
  • INNKEEPER: I am terrified of the man-eating elephant! Please help us!
  • OLD WOMAN: The princess has not ordered any of her favorite apples. I wonder if she is sick?
  • GAO: Gao, gao, gao.
  • SEAMAN: The boat costs 40 Gold.

BOSS: Man-eating elephant[edit]

Once you are stocked up on supplies, exit Teodoor and visit the port nearby. For 40 gold, the seaman will ferry you to the island. Wander around the forest until you are drawn into a battle with a very large elephant. Once you encounter it, do your best to defeat it quickly. When you are successful, return to the port on the island, ferry back to the land below, and revisit Teodoor.

Back to Teodoor[edit]

The townsfolk will be thrilled to hear that you defeated the menace of the man-eating elephant. As a reward for your bravery, the town elder gifts you with a translation machine. With one of these, it becomes possible to understand the lizardmen, not just in Teodoor, but around the world. One of the lizardmen doesn't have much useful information, but another mentions that he had a friend named Zelos who moved away. Remember this Zelos, as it won't be the last that you hear about him.

  • INNKEEPER: Thank you!
  • ELDER: Thank you. I will give you a translation machine!
  • GAO: The man-eating elephant was trying to build a tower.
  • GAO: My childhood friend, Zelos, moved to the south. I wonder what has become of him?
