Town of Ehdo[edit | edit source]

You start your adventure in the town of Ehdo. If you talk to the townspeople, you will learn a bit about the world. There are several shops in Ehdo. In addition to shopping for items or getting healed at the hospital, you can speak with the people who work at each store. You will learn that everyone is concerned about a princess who has been captured. People recommend that you go to the castle and speak with the king.
You start the game with 230 gold coins, but no equipment. Visit the weapons shop and buy a dirk (150 GC) and a pelt armor (80 GC). Be sure to equip them after you purchase them.
- Note: Ehdo (or Edo) is the old name of Tokyo, capital city of Japan.

Journeying around Ehdo[edit | edit source]
The castle and the king lie to the east. To the north is a bridge that leads to the next town, but the guard won't allow you to cross until you get permission from the king. There's also a port just west of Ehdo, but the sailor claims the sea is too rough for sailing.
Avoid entering into the forests at all costs, as the monsters you encounter in them are considerably stronger than you. Some can kill you in one hit in your current state. Additionally, the large forest east of Ehdo causes your character to become confused. She will walk in random directions, making it difficult to escape the forest, and making you more susceptible to attacks from powerful monsters.
At Level 1, you are considerably weak. It's a good idea to wander the grasslands immediately surrounding Ehdo in an effort to gain experience points and Gold. For 30 Gold, you can purchase a Hyperspeed1 from the item store, which will make your character a bit more nimble in battle. Whenever you run low on health, head back to Ehdo and visit the hospital. The amount you must pay to restore your health depends on how much health you lose. Don't forget to save your game afterward.
You should attempt to reach Level 2 at a minimum before you journey to the castle, but Level 3 is preferable. As you collect more Gold, you should purchase a Wood Shield as soon as possible. A bow and some arrows will enable you to attack enemies from a safer distance using limited ammunition. Whenever you gain a significant amount of Gold, purchase an Iron Sword and Chain Mail as well.
Running from battle can result in hefty penalties, including the loss of Gold, items, or even experience points. Once you are stronger and feel braver about venturing farther from Ehdo, be sure to carry a supply of balms to heal your wounds so you don't risk dying and losing half of your Gold. Once you have some strength and better equipment, head to the castle.
Speak with the King[edit | edit source]

Upon speaking with the king, he will instruct you to rescue his daughter. He will hand you a portrait of her, which will bear a strong resemblance to a caterpillar. He will also give you 100 Gold, and the act of speaking with him will make the bridge guard change his tune. Now he will allow you to cross the bridge to the lands north of Ehdo.
Faria Castle and territory[edit | edit source]
Town of Somusa[edit | edit source]

Your first destination should be Somusa, which is north and a bit to the west of the bridge. Somusa has a bit less to explore than Ehdo, and it basically sells the same items. One unique feature is the Jewel shop. Jewels have no purpose in the game other than to preserve your Gold in case you die. When you die, you lose half of the Gold you carry. But you won't lose any Jewels, and they don't lose their value. The only catch is that when you go to sell them, the jeweler will only offer you 90% of what their worth.
One woman mentions she saw a woman in a forest who looks like the princess in the portrait that the king gave you. Sure enough if you explore the small forest south of Somusa, you will encounter a caterpillar... who is not the princess.
You'll also hear quite a but about the Tower of Gelve, which will be your next destination. Gelve can be found to the north of Somusa, on the other side of a large lake. You should refrain from visiting Gelve until you are at least Level 5. Having the best equipment available is also helpful.

Welcome to the first tower. Towers in this game are all arranged in an 8 x 8 grid. There are a variety of doors in towers, including two way doors, one way doors that shut closed behind you, secret doors which must be pushed against to discover, and locked doors which will only open once the correct statue is moved. Many rooms contain enemies, but a few contain treasures for you to find like Gold, Jewels, and healing balms.
At the center of the tower are a set of stairs that lead to the second floor, one of which leads to the boss of the tower. However, in order to access them and make progress through the tower, you need to locate three statues on the second floor and push them to unlock certain doors. Be sure to remember how to exit the Tower in case you need to return to town and visit a hospital before you die.
- Objectives

- Balm n.1 (SW corner of ground floor)
- Balm n.2 (NW area of 1st floor)
- Statue n.1 (SE area of ground floor)
- Statue n.2 (central area, NE stairs)
- Statue n.3 (central area, SW stairs)
- Boss: crocodile-dragon
The boss is a red dragon that chases you around the room. It's easier to avoid collision with him if you rely on arrows instead of trying to stab it. If you run around the outer edge of the room and shoot it will arrows, you will chip away at its health. If you successfully defeat it, the princess will be waiting for you beyond the north door. With the princess safely by your side, it's time to return her to the castle.
- PRINCESS: Who are you? (The King ordered me to rescue you.) Thank you. I owe you my life.
