If you want to make this battle a lot easier make sure Montblanc or any other moogle unit has 10 JP and can summon a totema.

Strategy[edit]

This fight brings you up against the second of the five totemas, Ultima, the Nu Mou totema. Rather than appearing on the field as a boss like famfrit did Ultima appears as a number of crystals surrounding the arena. These crystals cannot move, have no melee attack and only one ability, Logos. This ranged magic attack both weakens and charms your units.

If you have any equipment that can prevent charm put it on, otherwise there is little else you can do. Almost all classes have to be in range of the crystals to be able to attack them, including black mages and archers. The only classes that can hit them safely are gadgeteers and illusionists that can hit all enemies at once and gunners.

If you have a moogle with 10 JP you can summon Famfrit and smash all the crystals in one turn, making an otherwise difficult fight much, much easier.

If 'charm' is against the law, the crystals will not use their Logos attack; either timing the law rotation so that this is in effect or simply using a law card to make it illegal makes the fight easy as well.
