Wilderness[edit]

You can now try out the World Map by pressing Y Button. If you did not get the map, then it is probably a good idea to go back to the Ship Graveyard. After leaving the Ship Graveyard, save first, then head to town to rest and purchase supplies. Follow the coast east and south until you find the town of Kerwin on a small peninsula sticking out to the northwest.

Kerwin Town (Carwen Town)[edit]

For more details on shops, see Kerwin's shops.

1000G Urn Follow hidden passage in pub.

Visit the inn near the entrance where you can rest and heal up for 10GP. To the right of this is the item shop, where it would be a good idea to get some of each of the status remedies (Maiden's Kisses, Antidotes, Soft, and Eye Drops are all sold here). The remaining shops are in a row on the north side of town. You should already have a Dirk, Rod, and Staff in you inventory, so it is probably not much use carrying around more than one of each. Do get the Long Sword, since it makes the Broadsword obsolete. The armor shop has Bronze Armor and Cotton Robes, which can replace your current Leather equipment. Pay close attention to which jobs can equip what items before purchasing. There are three new spells in the magic shop: Sleep, Mute and Protect.

Talk to the people in town to learn that the city of Walz is using machinery to boost the power of the Water Crystal, the same thing that caused the Wind Crystal to break. The party must get to Walz as quickly as possible to save the crystal; but since the wind died down, there are no ships in this town that was once a thriving port. Go to the pub, to the right of the shops, and talk to the man in the upstairs room who tells you that he saw a dragon in North Mountain (his wife just outside the pub supposes he's drunk and therefore crazy). The party learns that the dragon matches the description of King Tycoon's; Lenna starts to worry that something may have gone wrong. Realizing they may be able to reach Walz by air, the party decides to go to North Mountain and find the dragon. With a Thief or someone with Secret, you can easily spot the hidden passage that leads to treasure here. You can also complete the second part of the Pianos subquest as well.

Northern Mountain[edit]

When you leave town, go north and bear right when you come to a mountain ridge; bearing left takes you back to the Ship Graveyard. North Mountain is at the end of the valley and the entrance is on the south side. You begin at the foot of the mountain, where a straight path leads into a cave.

Explore a bit in the first cave for treasure, then exit northwest. This takes you to a ledge outside; follow it around clockwise to another cave entrance. Follow the passage in the second cave to another ledge outside. Follow the ridge but avoid touching the purple flowers. Touching one poisons all characters (designated as a flask status icon) and will reduce HP with each step; use Antidotes or Antdot to remove it before continuing onwards. Cross a bridge to another cave entrance. There is a save point here; it should be taken advantage of in preparation for a boss fight. Exit west to another ledge and start to follow it for a cutscene.

Lenna spots the king's helmet in the path and goes to investigate. She is struck by a poison arrow; this is integrated into the gameplay as she will be poisoned once you regain control. A sudden quake causes part of the ledge to fall away, leaving Lenna stranded on one side. Magissa appears to take the dragon, but instead she recognizes Lenna and now plans to kidnap her. To rescue Lenna, Faris leaps over the chasm and loses her footing on the other side. Magissa pokes fun at Faris' mishap, but the seasoned pirate manages to pull herself out, surprising Magissa. Faris and Bartz quickly build a rope bridge so the rest can cross. A battle begins.

Description/Strategy

Preparation: There are two ways you can go with this battle. One way is to use physical attacks; in this case have Jobs with high attack potential such as Knight or Monk in your front row and a White Mage in the back row. It might help to have a fighter with the !White ability as a backup healer in this case. Another way to go is to use mostly magical attacks where you have either Black Mages or Blue Mages doing most of the damage. Your Blue Mage needs to have Sleep and Blue Mages, if any, should have Aero. For either approach your White Mage should have Mute, Protes, and Cure.

Tactics: Before doing anything else, cure Lenna's poison status which is left over from the cutscene. Magissa will cast a variety of attack spells, Fire, etc. Have your White Mage cast Mute before it is cast on them. Start attacking Magissa either physically or with spells, casting cure on anyone whose health begins to falter. Unless you are very strong and can wipe her out quickly, she will call Faltzer, who will fight alongside her using strong physical attacks. On her next turn, she will cast Regen on him unless she has been Muted. If your characters are mostly fighters then switch your attacks to Faltzer until he is defeated. Since Falter will fight back, you pretty much have to have Protes cast on your front row or your healer won't be able to keep up. With Faltzer gone it should be then easy to mop up Magissa. On the other hand, if your characters are mostly mages, cast Sleep on Faltzer as soon as he appears. The rule with Sleep is that any physical attack will wake up the target, so you must only use spells on Faltzer. If a character has no attack spells then hit Magissa instead. Note, if you haven't collected the Blue spell Aero yet then you may do so now.

Lenna thanks Faris for coming to her rescue and you continue on. Follow the ledge with leads to another hole, but this time it goes through a wall to another ledge. Go north to start another cutscene.

You see a wounded dragon up ahead. Lenna heads through the poisonous flowers to collect the dragon grass, which has curative properties for dragons. Lenna is poisoned in the process, so she has Faris give it to the dragon while she herself falls to the ground. In gratitude, the dragon licks Lenna to revive her. With that out of the way, the team resolves to head to Worus.

You can now use the dragon to fly around. Press A Button to land or mount again; you can only land on clear lowlands, not water, forests or deserts. You cannot fly over mountains. There is a ring of mountains surrounding the area, so your movement is still pretty restricted, but you can now get back to the sea west of Torna Canal in case there are Blue spells and other things that you missed earlier. Your next destination is Worus.
