Controls[edit]

  • Steering Wheel: Use the steering wheel for steering your car (much like in the three previous games, they are Team Williams if you are player 1 or 5 and Team McLaren if you are player 2 or 6, but if you are player 3 or 7, the Team March car has been replaced by the new Team Ferrari one and if you are player 4 or 8, the Team Lotus car has been replaced by the also-new Team Benetton one) left and right just as you would with any real car.
  • Gas Pedal: Step on the gas pedal to accelerate your car. The harder you step on it, the faster your car goes (until it hits another car, or a billboard).
  • Break Pedal: Step on the break pedal to decelerate your car. The harder you step on it, the slower your car goes (until it stops moving completely).
  • Hi/Lo Shift: Use the gear shifter to change the gear that your car is driving in (as in the first three, you should start it out in low gear, and shift it into high gear once it has reached 100 km/h). Unlike in that original game, the position of the shifter is displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

These are the cars that the players must take control of for the Formula One race upon one of the four new, real tracks. The primary colour for the Team Benetton car is also green, so the colour of the CPU Cars has been changed to plain blue.

CPU Cars[edit]

For the final time, if a single player is playing this game alone, then his position in the race will never change from 1/1, regardless of how many of these plain blue CPU-controlled cars (as mentioned above, the dominant colour of the game's new Team Benetton car is green, hence the new colour) he passes; however, if multiple players are playing this game simultaneously, when up to four two-player cabinets are linked together, and any of the other players are ahead of that first one at any time, that first player's position will be 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5, 6/6, 7/7, or 8/8.
