Fire Emblem Fates is a tactical, turn-based role-playing game. It is split into three different pathways, each containing a full 22 chapters, based on a choice made in chapter 6. Various features from Awakening and before return, such as reclassing, saving during battles, and battles over the Nintendo Network. Some new features make an appearance as well, including the My Castle feature, Pheonix Mode, and the removal of weapon durability.

Setting[edit]

Fate's three pathways all happen in the kingdoms of Hoshido and Nohr. The main character, henceforth known as Corrin, is raised in a secluded area of Nohr, seeing only their servants Jakob, Felicia, Flora, and Lilith, and their siblings, Xander, Leo, Camilia, and Elise. After a botched mission, the king of Nohr, Garon, sends Corrin on a scouting mission. This causes a chain of events which results in Corrin being transported to Hoshido. Instead of being executed, as Corrin expects, they are introduced to their apparent blood relatives, Ryoma, Takumi, Hinoka, Sakura, the queen of Hoshido, Mikoto, and a songstress, Azura. A trap laid by Garon results in Mikoto's untimely death, sending Corrin into an unbridled draconic rage, but they are calmed down by Azura. The Yato blade is given to Corrin, and shortly after hearing of a Nohr invasion, Corrin and the siblings are put face to face with Corrin's Nohrian siblings. Corrin is forced to make a choice with who they will side with.

Basics[edit]

In battle, you are given command of an army. It is small at first, but grows in number as you meet other people. You are tasked with completing certain requirements to clear a chapter, which can be as simple as defeating all enemies or escaping the area, or complex as defending a seize point for a certain amount of turns.

In your army, there are a multitude of units. Each have stats that show their capabilities.
