Journey[edit]

After defeating Master Gengai, he will inform you that you have received a letter from the Tusk Soldier army, the army which is responsible for stealing the secret scrolls of the Shorinji and slaying Ryuhi's master, Juan. So Ryuhi must journey forth and enter one-on-one fighting tournaments all around the world in an effort to become the greatest martial artist and challenge the leader of the Tusk Soldiers.

All journeys are very similar, you must continue to defeat thugs in order to lure the mini bosses to appear. Defeat five of them to increase your power and earn the key that will get you into the entrance of the competition. The final boss will be a new kind of six armed flying demon. He can reach you more easily, but if you attack frequently enough, you can defeat him rather quickly. In addition to fighting bosses and punching statues to reveal items, there is one other crucial component of the journey: finding Juan panels.

In order to retrieve the stolen scrolls, you must know how to reveal the true identities of the Tusk Soldiers during your fight with them in competition. If you manage to reveal two of the hidden Juan panels, you will be given a clue as to how to reveal a Tusk Soldier just before facing him, so discovering these panels is crucial to succeeding in your mission. Juan panels are discovered simply by passing through or attacking their location. Note that the position Juan panels change when you must play the game over a second time.

Crystal Ball Location

After you defeat Dargon for the first time, you will learn that he was a fake. In order to fight against the real Dargon, you must collect all four crystal balls, along with the five stolen scrolls and four seals, in order to truly complete the Mandala. The first crystal ball can be found by attacking the statue at the location indicated to the right.

Tournament[edit]

Go Hayato[edit]

Go Hayato will be your very first opponent. He is not particular difficult if you just stick to the basic plan of defending where he will attack, and use basic attacks to hit him. If you try to do something fancy like a hurricane kick, he will recognize how green you are, and easily counter your attack. He opens himself up to being thrown a lot, so take advantage of those opportunities. He has a tendency to perform a flying kick attack that is easy to avoid at first, but difficult to dodge when he bounces off the screen at attacks you low from the opposite direction. Keep your eye out for Medicine bottles.

Min Min[edit]

As the only female fighter in the game Min Min may seem like a formidable opponent, but like Go Hayato, she is easily defeated if you stick to basic attacks. She can perform a variety of attacks herself, like a Hurricane Kick. Be sure to stay in the squatting position when she performs this attack, or you will only stand up and get hit by it. She can be thrown almost as much as Go Hayato. Knock her out to move to the finals.

J (Jungle) Tagon[edit]

J-Tagon (or Jungle Tagon) is the title holder for Elimination Round A. He is a kick boxer, and prefer lots of fast kicks to using punches. For this reason, the chances to throw him are far more rare. He has a special attack that he likes to perform, leaping at you with his knee from a distance. When he is standing a bit apart from you, and a target appears on your head, be ready for this attack. He typically performs two back to back.

If you located enough Juan panels, Juan will inform you that some of your opponents are really a Tusk Soldier in disguise. They are the ones with the scrolls that can help you improve your Hiryu no Ken. There's no real trick to revealing this Tusk Soldier; simply attack him until he is defeated, and he will rise back up as a Tusk Soldier. Be sure to have plenty of Medicine stored up just in case. You can now perform the deadly Crescent Wave attack against him by building up your KO gauge, and then pressing Up dpad+B button. The wave will take off a good portion of his health. But watch out, he can perform a similar maneuver which travels along the ground and must be jumped over to be avoided. If you defeat the Tusk Soldier, you will receive the first stolen scroll; the Hikyaku no Sho, which enables Ryuhi to use the Hiryu no Ken attack technique with greater accuracy and success.
