Controls[edit]

  • Joystick: Use the horizontal movements of the 8-way joysticks to direct your Fighters across the bottom of the screen; the sticks' other six directions do not have any effect in this game and Mappy Arrangement, and are only used for moving the Solvalou around the screen in Xevious Arrangement.
  • First Button: Use this button to make the Fighters fire shots at the enemies; the second button has no effect for this game and Mappy Arrangement.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to start the game as Player 1 (silver) or Player 2 (green); both Fighters will initially play exactly the same.

Characters[edit]

Fighters[edit]

NCV1-GAL Fighter (1P).gif NCV1-GAL Fighter (2P).gif The protagonists of this game; Player 1 controls the silver Fighter shown on the left, while Player 2 controls the green Fighter shown on the right. They initially play identically until one of them gets captured by the tractor beam of a Boss Galaga, Boss Choucho or Boss Tentoumushi and turns gray (because when either player shoots down the capturing enemy while he is attacking, the captured Fighter shall return to its original colour and fall back down to the bottom of the screen to join up with the retrieving Fighter, creating one of three new types of Dual Fighters in the process) - and it is due to the fact that either player may retrieve a captured Fighter that lives are shared between players in a two-player game. If you retrieve a Fighter that had been captured by a Boss Galaga, it shall create a Blue Dual Fighter; however, if you retrieve one that had been captured by a Boss Choucho, it shall create a Yellow Dual Fighter, and if you retrieve one that was captured by a Boss Tentoumushi, it will create a Red Dual Fighter. Unlike Galaga '88, the Dual Fighters cannot in turn be captured and retrieved to create a Triple Fighter - however, the capturing enemies shall still attempt to capture the Dual Fighters in their tractor beams (and if they succeed, the captured Dual Fighters also turn gray). If either player retrieves a captured Dual Fighter, one half of it will fly back down to the bottom of the screen to join up with the retrieving Fighter, while the other half falls back down into the remaining lives; however, if either player retrieves a captured Dual Fighter with another type of Dual Fighter, it will just fall back down into the remaining lives. If you're captured without any lives remaining the game will end - and if you choose to continue, it will diminish the "Life Bonus" at the end of the game.

Enemies[edit]

There are twenty-five types of regular enemies in the game, five of which are returning ones from the earlier Galaxian titles (the Asteroids also appeared as obstacles, in Galaga '88); the Goei also no longer possess the ability to meld with each other and create larger versions of themselves that take three hits to kill. King Galaspark, however, is the game's final boss, who must be fought on the thirtieth stage (the text of "BEAT KING-GALASPARK!" will also appear on the screen at the start of it) - and once you've defeated him, you shall receive a bonus of 100000 points for every life you have remaining (but as mentioned above, if you ran out of lives and chose to continue, the bonus shall be diminished to only 10000 points for every life you have remaining).

Note: Unlike in previous Galaxian titles, the "charger" points mechanic is not present in this one, and the only way for the players to receive the "charger" point values that are listed in the table below is if either of them kills a Yuubaku Mushi and other enemies happen to be caught in the resulting explosion.

Captured Fighters are also worth 1000 points if accidentally shot while in formation and 2000 points if accidentally shot while their capturing enemies are attacking while the three types of captured Dual Fighters are worth 3000 points if accidentally shot while in formation and 5000 points if accidentally shot while their capturing enemies are attacking (however, because accidentally shooting them kills them, you will not want to do it under any circumstances).
