iA-1[edit]

You will now try a series of technical corners in the second half of Midfield Raceway. You will begin braking soon after the start, then tackle the right-hand corner in the tunnel. This is followed by a wide left corner which is lengthy, so once you get to the inside of the corner, control your acceleration and stick to the inside of the corner. You then come out into a straight, which is followed by an S corner. As the S-bend is followed by a sharp left corner, you need to brake within this or you won't be able to lose enough speed before you reach the next left corner. As a rough guide, you should brake near the transition from the first left to the following right. If you don't follow a straight line as much as possible during braking, the car will become unstable. The key to improving your time is to fully reduce your speed at this point and make sure the car turns properly.

  • Silver: 0'33.166
  • Bronze: 0'35.680

iA-2[edit]

This is a test of corner sequences that uses the tricky section of the Suzuka circuit between the S-bends and the Degner. From the off you drive straight into the S-bends, so use the full width of the track and try to maintain a high speed. In the second half where the road levels out, be careful that you don't understeer due to changes in tyre loading. This is followed by an increasingly sharp left corner which in turn then leads into the composite Degner corner. In the first right-hand corner, use the distance indicators on the left as a braking guide, and brake momentarily, then brush the corners. As you exit, it is followed quickly by another right-hand corner requiring you to brake again. Be careful here because if you do not lose speed rapidly you will come off the course as you come out of the corner. The speed at which you pass through the Degner is the main key to maximising your time.

iA-3[edit]

This lesson is a guide to handling chicanes, using the B corner of the 90's Fuji Speedway. Although you start in a gentle right corner, don't try to follow the curve of the course, but drive directly for the hoarding that you can see in front of you. You should keep aiming towards this whilst braking and change the direction of the car as far to rear as possible, then stick to the kerb on the right side of the track. Accelerate from this point, then brake again to enter the next left corner. If you reach the inside of this left corner too soon, you won't be able to make the turn. Quickly change the direction of the car to aim for the exit of the corner and try to ride up onto the far kerb as much as possible.

  • Silver: 0'17.700
  • Bronze: 0'19.800

iA-4[edit]

This test features the final section of Apricot Hill from the tight chicane to the final corner. After the start, clear the high speed left and right corners at full accceleration then approach the left corner at the bottom of the hill from the right side of the course. As this corner also forms the entrance to the following S-bends, once you reach the inside kerb, stay there right into the S-bends. The exit becomes a tight left-hand bend, you should try hard to drive as straight as possible through here so that you can use this area as a braking section for the left corner. The key to improving your time is to think of the racing line from the first left corner through the series of corners rather than considering each corner seperately.

  • Silver: 0'35.298
  • Bronze: 0'37.000

iA-5[edit]

This guide run involves following the Skyline GT-R pace car for one lap around El Capitan. This track has large variations in elevation, particularly in the second half of the course after the tunnel where the uphill and downhill slopes have a large impact on changes in the weight distribution on the tyres. Be careful that you do not understeer - as there are many composite corners and sequences of corners in which there are subtle differences in the racing line, you should carefully study the tactics of the pace car.

  • Gold: 2'28.000
  • Silver: 2'32.440
  • Bronze: 2'42.980

iA-6[edit]

Now try to clear a complicated series of corners using the first section of Autumn Ring. You can run full throttle through the first left after the start, and then you come to the series of corners. Think of the first right and left as a single corner, and cut through them in a straight line. Brake in the following small straight, then clear the next left-right pair of corners using a similar straight line approach. Doing this allows you to enter the right-hand corner that leads onto the back straight at high speed. Thinking of the overall course speed, rather than the speed you pass through individual corners, will help to maximise your time.

iA-7[edit]

This is another guide to difficult corners that uses the second half of Trial Mountain. Be careful of weight distribution changes due to uphill/downhill variations. For the first corner after the start, use the distance indicators spaced every 100 m as a guide to braking and make full use of the yellow zone on the inside of the corner. Although you can clear the following gentle right corner at full throttle, it is soon followed by another right corner. This is a blind corner due to the crest of the hill, but you need to begin braking while you are still unable to see or you won't have enough time before the corner. As this will require you to brake while cornering, be careful not to oversteer. After coming out of this corner you reach the final corner where it is essential that you control your speed as it is on a steep downhill. This corner curves in unexpectedly, so if you accelerate too early you won't be able to make the turn.

  • Bronze: 0'37.000
