Progression[edit]

Hanii in the Sky is a linear game, in that you can't unlock a stage until you defeat the boss of the previous stage. In that sense, the only way to unlock the final stage is to go through every other stage in order. However, unlike most linear games, you are free to transport yourself back to any stage that you have already unlocked, at any time.

The reason you would consider doing this is because points are necessary to stock up on items. As you obtain stronger weapons, your ability to complete early stages improves. If you find yourself in need of points to purchase items at the shop, you may wish to return to an earlier stage and complete it for more points. Be aware that the earlier the stage, the fewer points you generally obtain. Later stages with greater challenges offer more points faster.

Shop Strategy[edit]

Shop items can be broken into three categories: Engines, Weapons, and Utilities. There are three engines to choose from: Medium, Fast, and Faster. The difference between Medium and Fast is pretty remarkable, but the difference between Fast and Faster is less so. At 4000 points, you should certainly choose the Fast engine as soon as you are able to, but for 8000 points, it's better to hold off with this purchase until you have an abundance of points and don't need to purchase anything else.

For Weapons, there's really only one: the 3-Way Sword. At 50,000 points, it's the most expensive item in the shop. The fact is, you will obtain one automatically by defeating a boss in the middle of the game, so you would only buy one if you want to give yourself a big advantage early on in the game.

For Utilities, there is the Autofire, Health Potions, Invisibility, and Magatama Beads. The Auto-fire is the cheapest, 500 points, and should be picked up as early as possible. It makes a huge difference in your offense level. Health Potions are expensive, 7500 points, but you will be buying a lot of them throughout the game. As you get closer to the end levels, you may need to go back and revisit early levels to earn enough points to max out your health meter and your supply of potions. The last two items, Invisibility and Magatama Beads are luxury items that are helpful, but expensive. You may wish to buy at least one of each to have on hand in case you need them, particularly for the last boss battle.
