This chapter introduces you to the private investigator, Scott Shelby. He's been hired by some parents of victims in the Origami Killer case to track down the culprit. Here he needs to talk with the mother of one of the murdered children in a fleabag motel.

Talk to Lauren[edit]

Get Lauren to talk about her son.

Outside the motel, press Up rstick to enter and either head back to the stairs, or stop in at the front desk and ask where Lauren's room is. If you ask the clerk, he won't give you the directions unless you pony up a small bribe. Either way, head up the stairs, which leads to a hallway full of doors on either side. You can knock on any door you want, but Lauren's is the last door on the left. When she opens up, either hit the quick time event before she closes the door, or knock again.

Inside, you can look around her room, and you can also put the money she wants on the table. When you approach her by the bed, you'll tell her why you're there and you can begin asking her questions. After a few questions you'll have the option to either trick or buy her, to keep her talking. If you choose to buy her time, she'll get angry and kick you out, so trick her if you want to hear more, or you want the Private Eye trophy. Depending on the questions you ask, you can keep her going for quite a while. If you make her mad she'll tell you to get out, and you can try some other options or just leave your card on the table. If you can keep her talking, eventually the ten minute timer on her bedside table will ring, and she'll ask you to leave.

Fight Troy[edit]

Win the fight with Troy.

When you leave the room, walk back down the hall to the stairs you came up. You'll have a minor asthma attack, so perform each instruction you see to check your pockets for the inhaler. As you're getting your breathing back under control, you should notice a big guy with tattoos walk over to Lauren's door and start pounding on it. He pushes his way inside, and you'll hear the sounds of a struggle. At this point you can choose to walk down the stairs and leave, or you can go see what's going on in the apartment.

If you want to go help Lauren, head back to her room and knock on the door. Troy will answer and tell you to get lost before shutting the door, and you can either knock again or just kick down the door and barge in. Either way gets you inside and you'll start fighting Troy. The fight is a series of quicktime events. If you win the fight, Troy will take off and you'll get the White Knight trophy. Otherwise, you'll just get beat up and he'll leave anyway. When it's all over, Lauren will thank you and you'll take off.
