Let Madison die. (Can also be done on Killer's Place.)
3 / 6 tasks

Doing a little investigation, you've found that the apartment where Ethan had the Lizard trial is owned by Dr. Adrian Baker, who lost his license to practice medicine and is known to traffic in prescription drugs. This is the first chapter where one of your characters can die, so be especially vigilant here. If Madison dies, her solo chapters won't occur and she won't be in other chapters as she normally would have been.

Talk to the doctor[edit]

Don't drink the liquor.

Walk up to the front door and knock. When the doctor answers, hit the quicktime button before he closes the door, or you'll have to knock again. Either way, once you mention you've got money, he'll let you in. The doctor will give you a glass of liquor and sit you on the couch, regardless whether you say you'll accept the drink or not. The drink is spiked, so if you take a sip at any time by holding Up rstick, you'll pass out after asking him about the apartments on Marble Street. He'll ask you who told you about him, and you can answer in any way. You can ask him a bunch of questions, but the conversation ends when you ask him about the apartments. He'll get up to fetch your drugs, and if you haven't tasted your drink yet, he'll ask you if you're going to.

If you don't try your drink, he'll disappear farther into the house, leaving you alone to explore. There are lots of things to interact with around the house, but if you venture down the hallway, the doctor will nab you. You don't need to go that far though, as you'll find what you're looking for in the bedroom through the door on the left where the hallway starts. On difficulties other than easy, opening and closing the doors requires slowly unfolding movements, otherwise the door bangs open or shut noisily. In the bedroom, go around the bed and pick up the card on the desk. It's from the Blue Lagoon nightclub, and has the name "Paco" written on the back. When you have the card, you can leave out the front door without further interaction with the doctor.

Escape[edit]

Escape your bonds.

If you drank the liquor or went too deep into the house, you'll find yourself tied up on a makeshift operating table in the basement. While you're tied up, the doctor will tell you what you wanted to know from the beginning, that he rented the apartment to Paco at the Blue Lagoon. The doctor wants to perform some non-elective surgery on you, but luckily he's called away by a missionary selling bibles at the front door. You have the option to scream or struggle against your bonds before he goes, but it doesn't do anything. The doctor will tell the missionary to get lost and come back downstairs, but he'll get called away one more time as the missionary tries again. This time the doctor will buy the bible to get rid of him, so if you're not off the table when he comes back, you don't get any other chances.

When he's upstairs answering the door, look to your right with Right lstick until you see the shaking controller instruction over your right foot. Do as it says until your right leg is freed, then perform the combo instructions to activate the drill and use it to cut the ropes on your left leg. Another combo instruction will let you kick the drill up to your left arm, and at this point the doctor won't come back down until you've finished freeing yourself. When your left hand is free, he'll come back down and you'll get your right hand out just in time to evade his first strike and start a quicktime fight. Perform well, and you'll take out the doctor, otherwise he'll overpower you and you'll end up back on his operating table. If you win the fight you'll escape, picking up the Blue Lagoon card on your way out.
