"Stern" is the twenty-fourth and last map on the German side of the campaign.

Strategy[edit]

It looks frightening, but is in fact fairly easy. Move the bulk of your elite infantry to the eastern sector to engage and destroy the enemy aircraft. Hold back your own planes, you will need them intact for the endgame: remember that you do not have any production facilities, only a repair facility in your HQ. Let your sappers dig trenches to reinforce every bunker they can reach, and to create tank obstacles in gaps between barbed wire to slow down the enemy. Let the enemy tanks come to you: the longer they stay in the kill zone in your bunkers’ range the better. The main rule is to always fire at non-adjacent enemy units. Conduct a slow fighting retreat towards your inner perimeter. After surviving the first wave, you should have a large number of entrenched bunkers with highest experience, which are almost impossible to destroy even though their group size may be down. Use the lull to move back and repair your units. There is not much of a second wave, though, since the enemy will now move his tanks in one by one, instead of in assault groups. Use your aircraft to weaken or destroy enemy units in the northern sector; as the pressure there is relieved, move your units to the south and prepare for the final breakout. In the end, move anti-tank guns onto the truck, let the sappers remove trenches to facilitate movement, and break out with infantry and tanks to the southwest with close air support in order to capture the enemy HQ.
