Controls[edit | edit source]
- O and P : In the ZX, CPC and C64 versions, you will have to these two keys to make Phooey walk left and right; you can also press Space to make him punch (or perform a roundhouse kick if pressed with O or P ), A to make him crouch, and Q to make him perform a flying kick (or jump if pressed with Space ), but in the Commodore Amiga version, you will have to use a joystick instead. In the ZX, CPC and C64 versions, you can also press F to pause the game and Space to restart it - but you should only do it if you have absolutely no chance of winning whatsoever.
Hong Kong Phooey[edit | edit source]
Otherwise known as "Penry the Mild-Mannered Janitor" (not "Henry", because it is short for "Penrod"), this crime-fighting dog is the protagonist of the game; he has the power to punch, kick, crouch and jump but will lose energy if he comes into contact with any of Baron Von Bankjob's thugs or their projectiles along with pools of acid and falling debris (indicated by the show's "Hong Kong Book of Kung Fu" at the bottom of the screen gradually fading away as he gets weaker). Phooey can restore the book back to its original state by collecting the drinks which can be found around the Baron's warehouse (in which this game takes place), but if he runs out of energy, the game will be over - however, unlike other superheroes when their power runs out, he shall not revert to his original form of "Penry the Mild-Mannered Janitor".
