Controls[edit]

  • Joystick: Use the 4-way joystick to direct your Pac-Man (yellow for the first player, pink for the second) around each one of the game's thirty mazes.
  • Jump Button: Use this button to make your Pac-Man jump over the ghosts, if they have eaten a winged sneaker; if they have not, nothing happens.
  • Laser Helmet Button: Use this button to make your Pac-Man fire a shot from his laser helmet, if he is wearing one; if he is not, nothing will happen.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin the game as player 1 or player 2; in a two-player game, the ghosts will chase the pink Pac-Man less than the yellow one and he'll also start closer to the hidden items on each stage (however, this does not work if one person plays alone as him).

Characters[edit]

Pac-Mans[edit]

HP Pac-Man (2P).gif

Namco's signature character needs no introduction, but for this unofficial sequel, there are two of him; Player 1 controls the original yellow Pac-Man, while Player 2 controls pink one with a red headband. Both players must guide their respective Pac-Mans through the mazes, and on to victory - and they must avoid contact with any of the unnamed ghosts (who only come in two colours for this), or running out of time (for each stage has a time limit, possibly to prevent point-leeching after a laser helmet has gotten collected). As in the official Pac-Man title, Pac-Mania (which also used a Yamaha YM-2151 FM sound chip), they'll both move at a constant speed regardless of whether they are eating or not; they will also receive an extra life at 100000 and 500000 points (which cannot be changed), as well as every time they eat an Extra Life powerup.

Ghosts[edit]

The ghosts in this unofficial Pac-Man sequel are unnamed, and only come in two colours (blue and pink); they usually only come in one colour on most stages (but some stages feature ghosts of both colours). They all seem to behave identically, and because one of the two colours they come in is blue (which makes them look edible by default, and may confuse fans of the official games), they will turn white when a power pellet is eaten - and because there are no regenerators in the mazes (like those of the official games), they will start out in preset positions, then regenerate in them after they have been eaten or shot (but if the power pellet is still effective in the case of the former they will still be edible). The enormous mechanical bull on the tenth stage will also send an infinite amount of pink ghosts out after the Pac-Mans; there shall also be one in the fight against the enormous mechanical squid on the twentieth stage and four in the fight against the enormous mechanical evil Pac-Man with three forms on the thirtieth stage and even though both Pac-Mans will automatically have laser helmets with unlimited ammunition for these stages, they'll still die immediately if touched, and once they have defeated the boss their helmets will revert to normal helmets for the next stage.

Bonus items[edit]

Regular bonus items[edit]

There are four types of regular bonus items that are either visible in plain sight or hidden in the walls of the mazes (and in the case of the latter, you shall need a laser helmet to shoot the walls they are hidden in and free them); the ghosts cannot move past them, and you do not have to eat them in order to clear the stage, but Cherries (which were first eaten on the first round of the original Pac-Man in 1980) are worth 1000 points, Hamburgers (which were first eaten on the fourth round of Super Pac-Man in 1982) are worth 3000, Strawberries (which were first eaten on the second round of the original Pac-Man) are worth 5000, and Eggs (which were first eaten on the fifth round of Super Pac-Man) are worth 10000. The items are shown in the gallery below.

Special bonus items[edit]

There are seven types of special bonus items that are, again, either visible in plain sight or hidden in the walls of the mazes (and in the case of the latter you will again need the third one of them, to shoot the walls they are hidden in and free them); again, the ghosts cannot move past them, and you again do not have to eat them in order to clear the stage: Bombs will blow up certain parts of the maze when eaten (often revealing more bonus items), Extra Lives will (as their name suggests) give the Pac-Man who eats them an extra life, Laser Helmets will give the Pac-Man who collects them twenty shots with which to shoot the ghosts (and walls in which more bonus items are hidden), as well as a protection from death for one touch, but once their ammo has been depleted, they shall revert to Normal Helmets, which also offer the protection from death for one touch, Fluoroscope Glasses will reveal the positions of any secret paths and hidden bonus items in the walls, Roller Skates shall increase the speed of the Pac-Man who eats them, and Winged Sneakers will give the Pac-Man who eats them the ability to jump over the ghosts, much like in the aforementioned Pac-Mania (however, they will lose the effects of any special items they collected if they die or run out of time). The special bonus items are, for a second time, shown in the gallery below.
