IAVT screen Main Menu.jpg

The main menu, pictured to the right, consists of the following options:

  • Free Play: The game's main mode. Choose between three difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard) and select a song to begin playing through a unique library of music.
  • Step Up Play: The game's challenge mode. See its page for more information.
  • Daily Play: A random song unlocks each day; playing it allows you to see the unlock requirements afterward if it's a song you have not yet unlocked. It then locks until the next day. Note that setting the Vita's calendar forward also gives you access to the next day's song.
  • My List Play: Create a playlist of songs and go through them one after the other.
  • Item: Purchase costumes and skins that have been unlocked.
  • Online: View the song rankings of others and upload your own.
  • Data: View trophies, records, and the game's credits.
  • Option: Change the brightness, music volume, sound volume, autosave (turn on/off), UI skin, and rhythm skin.

Gameplay[edit]

  • The timing of notes is graded in four ways: COOL (hitting the note perfectly), FINE (a little off), SAFE (just in time), and MISS (completely missing the window). Only a MISS ends a chain.
  • Chains are formed by hitting a series of notes without missing. Chains can last through the whole song, earning that song a crown distinction on the song select screen in Free Play.
  • The highest grade that can be achieved on a song is a triple-S rank. The more notes that are hit with COOL timing, the better the ranking.
  • Aside from the notes corresponding to face buttons shown on screen ( Cross button, Circle button, Square button, Triangle button, Left dpad, Down dpad, Right dpad, Up dpad ), multicolored ("colorful") notes may also make an appearance. These can be hit by any button, or even a combination of buttons if it must be hit multiple times (indicated by a number on the note).
