Jak II is an adventure game with elements of several genres including platformer, shooter, and driving game. It's the first sequel to Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and takes places in Haven City. You usually play as Jak, though in this game there are a couple of areas where you play as Daxter.

Gameplay is divided into missions and you must complete these in order to progress. There are around 65 missions in total and this guide will cover 3-6 missions on each page. Overall, the guide is divided into four parts with a major boss battle occurring at the end of each part.

This guide references the PS2 version of the game. There have been updated versions released since then but the differences are minor.

Backstory[edit]

When Daxter fell into a vat of dark eco, he was turned into an Ottsel (a bit like an otter and a bit like a weasel). He and his best friend Jak seek the help of the Green Sage Samos, Jak's guardian and mentor. But Samos tells them they must seek Gol Acheron, the Dark Sage, far to the north. With the help of Samos' daughter, Keira, who is a master engineer, they do so. On the way they find many artifacts and temples of the Precursors, an advanced civilization which disappeared long ago. When they find Gol Acheron, he has been driven insane by dark eco and plans to destroy the world. Jak and Daxter defeat Gol Acheron. but Daxter never does become a human again. After their victory, they discover a Precursoe device called a Rift Gate and a Rift rider to activate it.
