Walkthrough[edit]

Kaijuu Monogatari map Kupikupi start.png

Kupikupi starts out in the South West corner of the map, in Rolan Castle (location 12-B). After receiving 50 Pearls and a Heart Stone, walk around the castle to speak with its citizens. You will learn that the Gypsy is located far to the North East, and that a town to the east sell boats. If you pay someone 15 Pearls, they will teach you that sake renders Goblins defenseless. Save your money for the not one, but two shops in the castle from which you can buy equipment.

Just as with the Hero, Kupikupi starts out very weak. Furthermore, he is at a further disadvantage because armed combat is not his specialty. To compensate, most of the enemies in the immediate vicinity are rather weak. It will take some time before Kupikupi masters a variety of spells, but the first one that he learns is Hospi, the healing spell. This will enable Kupikupi to survive a little longer outside the castle walls, but don't rely on it to save you from battles with more dangerous foes which lie farther from the castle. Build up levels and buy better equipment before you travel too far.

Gypsy: Be sure to purchase a Silver Key and Canteen before you leave, since you can visit the monk on the way back from the Gypsy. In order to reach the gypsy, you'll first need to travel due north from Rolan Castle until you hit a mountain range. Follow this range to the east until you can travel north again. As you do, you'll spot another mountain range to the east. The Gypsy's hut is above this second mountain range, near the coast (location 10-D). Enter the hut and speak with the Gypsy in order to exchange the Heart Stone for the Second Map.

Traveling Monk: The monk's location is actually quite close to the Gypsy's. Head south from her hut until you hit the mountains. From there, start making your way to the west and you should locate a path between the mountains as you approach the coast. Follow that path and the head-shaped statue should come into view (location 10-A). Enter the statue and unlock the door using the Silver Key. This monk is located in the upper right room. Speak with him, and accept his request for a drink of water. In return, he will inform you that the map indicates the location of one of the scrolls, far north of Bandel Belday. You must find and combine both scrolls, and exchange them with Yodada of the Shrine for the Key of Light.

Traveling East: There are several locations worth visiting to the east of Rolan Castle, but you must first make sure that Kupikupi is of a high enough experience level (at least 5) and has sufficient equipment (Spear, Courage Mantle, Headband, and Soldier's Shield). The first stop is Yatoma (location 12-E), a very small town due East of Rolan Castle. In Yatoma, you can rest, save, shop (purchase Soldier's Armor for Kupikupi), and learn a little bit about boats. From Yatoma, head north a little bit until you clear the mountains, and continue your trek to the East. Beware of stronger enemies as you go. As you approach the west coast, you should see a small village called Massa (location 11-G) which will resemble Toinon. And just like in Toinon, you can purchase Sand Rat to expand your inventory for 150 Pearls. You will also learn details about throwing an Iron Axe from Roche Castle into the large northern lake along the cape so that a nymph will appear and give you the Staff of Earth.

Approach the channel: Now make your way back to the west, and return to the vicinity of the Gypsy's hut. North and to the West of the hut, you will find a cave that serves as a passage across the channel to the north (location 9-B). However, do not send Kupikupi into the cave at this time. Instead, Pass control of the game to Poyon.
