The Menu Bar[edit]
To reach the menu, move the cursor to the top of the screen. A bar will appear with icons to symbolize different actions. These icons are as follows:

| Use | Click to use or take an item. | |
| Speak | Click to talk to someone. | |
| Satchel | Click to open your inventory. You may use the look and use action within your inventory. | |
| Menu | Click to open the file menu. | |
| Help | Click on another icon to find out what it does. |
Right-clicking when outside of the menu will scroll through the first four icons (walk, look, use, speak).
Saving[edit]
The world is full of perils and one wrong move will be the death of King Graham. Remember to save often! To save, enter the file menu and choose "Save". To load from a previous save, select "Restore". This guide will point out areas that are especially dangerous to remind you to save often. However, if you are playing through by yourself, you may want to save before you begin clicking on random objects on the screen.
Scoring[edit]
King's Quest V uses a scoring systems to keep track of your progress. By completing tasks and finding items, you will gain points. There is a total of 260 points in this game. This guide will point out how many points you receive for each task so you can keep track.
