First Visit[edit]

Sora[edit]

Dive Mode
A Rank B Rank C Rank Gold Reward
750,000+ 320,000-749,999 ≤319,999 Spark Dive

Once you complete the dive and enter Traverse Town, a cutscene plays where Sora takes in his surroundings and meets The World Ends With You's Neku Sakuraba - a "Player" in "the Game." After the scene, you'll be introduced to Flowmotion with an optional mini-tutorial. Follow the path up the flight of stairs and eventually, you'll find a Save Point. Right past it are the double doors that lead to Traverse Town's Second District.

Head down the center and you'll find Neku. After the scene, you'll face your first battle against some common Dream Eaters, known as Nightmares. Try out some Flowmotion combat and once you defeat all of the Nightmares, the game will show you how to create Spirits - Dream Eaters that aid you in battle. Follow Neku down the path and go through the door leading to the Third District. The next cutscene will introduce you to one of the game's primary features: dropping.

Once you drop from Riku's side of Traverse Town back into Sora's, turn back and follow the path for a chest containing Block-it Chocolate, then up the ramp and to the light-up gizmo on the wall. Jump up and hack at it a few times to unlock the door back to the First District. Enter it (take note of the Link Portal along the way) and head to the area you started out in (there's a treasure chest containing a Potion up the staircase to the left of the main square). Once you defeat the area's Nightmares, go straight to the mailbox. Examine it, and then examine the spot it reveals. You'll now be transported to a new, underground area of Traverse Town: the Post Office.

Ride the rail until Sora is forced off, at which point you can take care of the Nightmares that appear before you and then use Reality Shift against the presents in the corner. Open the chest for a Rampant Figment, then jump down and follow the conveyer belt. You should come across a large red structure, where you'll find a chest containing a Potion. Get to the end of the conveyer belt, take the stairs, and open the chest past the purple rail for an Ice Dream Cone before you ride the purple rail. Next, get on the yellow rail, and jump off when you see 3A on the wall. Use Reality Shift on the presents again for a chest containing Vibrant Fantasy. Now hop back onto the yellow rail and take the green rail once you see it to the exit. Save and move on to the next area, the Fountain Plaza.

Fountain Plaza and the Fourth District[edit]

Upon entering the area, you'll find another Link Portal which lets you borrow some powerful Spirits. Follow the path and some boxes will give you the Reality Shift queue; claim your reward in the form of an Intrepid Figment. Continue down the main path (take note of the small path straying off the main path which leads to a Balloon) until you reach the main area through the tunnel. Find the boxes along the left wall, jump up to the roof, then jump across to the other roof for a treasure chest containing an Ice Dream Cone. Now drop back down, follow the path past the fountain, and enter Traverse Town's Fourth District.

Jump up onto the boxes straight ahead for a chest containing a Shield Cookie, then drop back down and follow the staircase to the left. Find the chest containing another Potion, then go back to the staircase and find the boxes to the left. Climb up the building and use Flowmotion to get to the higher area. Open the chest nearby for a Water Barrel. Follow these roofs until you reach another chest at the end (where you'll find a Hi-Potion), then go back and jump across the street to some more blue roofs. Find the chest for another Ice Dream Cone, then jump up the tower until you reach the top for a Balloon. Drop down to the right, open the chest (you'll end up with another Potion), and follow the path for a cutscene. Afterward, turn around for a Block-it Chocolate, defeat the area's enemies, and check out the Moogle Shop. Once you're finished browsing (purchasing the two recipes is recommended, unless you have them already), head through the door to the right for a cutscene and a boss battle.

Boss: Hockomonkey[edit]

KH3D nightmare Hockomonkey.png

Hockomonkey is the first boss of the game, but that doesn't mean it should be taken lightly. Make sure you go into the battle with some Potions in your deck. You'll start off by facing Hockomonkey on a glass roof. It'll hop around and dislodge its fists for some swings at Sora. Otherwise, it doesn't have much variety in its attacks (besides one in which it grabs Sora and punches him continually before it lets him go, though it doesn't perform this one very often). Going for a simple hack-and-slash strategy won't work against Hockomonkey though, and neither will spamming magic commands. You'll have to utilize your dangerous new weapon here: Flowmotion. This troublesome Nightmare may hop around a lot, but so can Sora. Bounce off the walls and use the exclusive flowmotion attacks and you won't leave Hockomonkey much time to land its punches.

When you get its health low enough, the glass roof will shatter, sending Sora and the Nightmare down onto the floor below. There won't be much different in here besides a change of scenery, but using flowmotion attacks should be a bit easier to land with the close walls. Defeat it for your rewards: an increase in Sora's max health and deck capacity, and a new, more powerful Keyblade: Skull Noise. Watch the ending scene and move on to the next world.

Riku[edit]

Dive Mode
A Rank B Rank C Rank Gold Reward
450,000 300,000 200,000 Spark Dive

After completing Riku's dive (which is a bit more challenging than Sora's) you'll get a scene in which Joshua introduces himself and explains the concept of portals to Riku. Your new goal is to find a girl named Rhyme. Turn around and follow the path until you find a staircase (getting rid of the plentiful amount of Nightmares along the way for some easy experience) leading to the Second District. Upon entering, Joshua will give you a Komory Bat Recipe and you can get started on making a Spirit for Riku. A battle will then begin in which you have to defeat Beat's spirit, the Kooma Panda. Afterward, you'll get a flashback on the Keyblade War and Riku will drop.

As soon as you're back on Riku's side of Traverse Town, your attention will be directed toward Shiki, being chased by Nightmares. Follow her into the First District to rescue her, then look for the now-missing Joshua and Beat by heading to the Back Streets (the path opposite the entrance to the Third District). Follow the path up to the tunnels, take a left, and head to higher ground (taking note of the Laguna Link Portal along the way). Here you'll find a chest in the corner containing a Potion. Don't continue up and take the path to the other sewer area instead. Ride the rail until Riku is forced off and you'll find a chest containing Thunder. Continue riding the rail until you find a chest containing ten Paint Guns: Sky Blue. Find the area with the Link Portal you encountered earlier, and this time, take the other path. You should find a plethora of Nightmares and a Shield Cookie before you make it out the other side. Grab the Potion and follow the high path to the Fountain Plaza.

Fountain Plaza and the Fourth District[edit]

Find the stack of boxes which let you perform Reality Shift and take the Vibrant Fantasy. Follow the path up to the Fountain Plaza's main area and follow the right wall to some stacked boxes. Climb up to the top and jump across the gap for an Ice Dream Cone. Take the path behind the fountain to reach the Fourth District. Once you enter this area, advance a bit for another Link Portal (Squall) and then take a right for another Potion. Now take a left until you find another chest containing a Confetti Candy. As in the Fourth District Sora traversed, you should find many items littered across the rooftops. Climb up the building in this area for an Intrepid Figment, then find the blue rooftops around this area for a Balloon. Jump to the rooftops across the street for another Confetti Candy and climb up the tower for some Treasure Goggles. Ride the rail back to the entrance of the Fourth District for a Potion.

Once you've grabbed all the items, continue down the path to the end of the Fourth District, where you'll find the Moogle Shop and the Flick Rush Moogle. Find the chest by this moogle for a Shield Cookie, then head to the exit for a scene and a boss fight.

Boss: Hockomonkey[edit]

Riku faces the same boss as Sora does on his side of Traverse Town, but there are differences to the battle in general and Hockomonkey's behavior. The glass roof is completely absent here, and you instead start right from the inside of the building. Unfortunately, this gives Hockomonkey a set-up that may just be more annoying than what Sora had to go up against. While it stays in one place, it'll either throw whatever it can grab at Riku, or it'll send its many hands after you. Each hand has its own health bar, so you may want to get rid of these before continuing the battle. When Hockomonkey gets on Riku's level, giving Riku the opportunity to attack, get ready to use a bunch of flowmotion attacks. You don't get many opportunities between its throw and hand phases, so get aggressive, and don't forget to heal. Once you defeat Hockomonkey, you'll get the same rewards for Riku as you get for Sora; an increase in max health and deck capacity, and a new Keyblade: Skull Noise.

Second Visit[edit]

Sora[edit]

After Joshua explains the situation to Sora, drop down to the ground below and head into the Garden. Immediately to the right is a chest containing a Royal Cake. Fight off the Dream Eaters and drop down to the area below. Following another Dream Eater attack, open the chests containing Confetti Candy and a Dream Eater, the Jestabocky. Follow the path to the closed gate to find a chest containing Drop-Me-Not. Return to the entrance, but before exiting, spot a ledge to the right. Use Flowmotion to get to it for a Rampant Figment. Exit to the Fifth District and exit again to the Fourth District.

Save at the Save Point and buy recipes along with anything else you may need at the Moogle Shop. Head up the stairs after battling the Dream Eaters in the way and enter the Fountain Plaza. Sora meets up with Neku and Shiki, and then helps them out with some Dream Eaters. Complete the battle for Sliding Sidewinder. Before continuing on, head back to the fountain and use Flowmotion to get on top of the yellow pedestal in the center. Here is a large chest containing Strike Raid. Now head back through the alley toward the Post Office. Hop onto the orange rail and ride it to the exit. Examine the platform to ascend to the First District. After defeating the many Dream Eaters that spawn in the area, head to the end of it by the Save Point and the Moogle Shop to the Second District. From here, drop down and turn right into the alley toward the door of the Third District. Prepare after battling the Dream Eaters for the boss battle ahead.

Boss: Spellican[edit]

The Spellican is an especially challenging boss battle because it's actually three consecutive boss battles in one: Traverse Town's Hockomonkey, La Cité des Cloches' Wargoyle, and Prankster's Paradise's Char Clawbster. These once-defeated Nightmares are made tougher by the fact that Sora is enclosed in a tight arena. Luckily, the close walls and numerous lampposts make for an easy reach to any Flowmotion attack. The Spellican's first summon is the Hockomonkey. This shouldn't prove too difficult if you avoid it at the right times and use Flowmotion continuously while keeping a Cure spell or two at the ready in the Command Deck. The strongest attacks to watch out for are its extending fists and its grab in which it can hammer Sora with punches. Dodge wisely, and save your Links for the next Nightmare Spellican summons: the Wargoyle. Its attacks are incredibly quick and powerful, and they certainly have range that's good enough for the small area. Its attack pattern may be hard to get down when fighting in such close quarters, so depleting the majority of its health with the help of Sora's Spirits is the way to go. Lastly, there's the Char Clawbster. The Clawbster is the complete opposite of the Wargoyle in that its attacks (and even movements) are slow and weak. It gives you plenty of time to cure, so use the usual strategy in defeating the weak final Nightmare to complete the battle and the world.

Riku[edit]

After landing in Traverse Town once again, Joshua directs Riku to a threat in the Fountain Plaza. Before leaving the First District, go up the stairs in the center and to the left. A box here leads to the next level. Flowmotion up the wall next to the opening to find a chest containing Rampant Fantasy. Continue moving forward and exit to the Second District. Once there, head right and use Flowmotion to get on top of the shop next to "Boots & Shoes". Defeat the Dream Eaters and open the chest containing a Balloon. Drop down and take a right into the alley leading into the Third District, defeating the Nightmares along the way. As soon as you enter, use Flowmotion to get up the wall to the right. You should spot a balcony, with a chest containing an Ice Dream Cone. Now head back to the First District and enter the Back Streets.

Take the left and go north, where you should see a big wall. Use Flowmotion to get up the right side of it, where you'll find a small landing with a chest containing a Troubling Fantasy. Jump back down, defeat the Nightmares and move forward. Before going through the large tunnel, use Flowmotion to get on top of it. Here is a big chest containing Thunder. Hop down the other side of it and continue moving forward. When you see another tunnel, use Flowmotion to get on top of it. Nightmares will spawn; once all enemies are defeated, head right and you should see a Save Point. Continue up the stairs to the Fountain Plaza. Follow the path and you'll see a scene in which Riku reunites with Beat and Rhyme. You must now chase the Nightmare that has escaped.

Follow the path you've been set on, defeating the same Nightmares on the way back. Keep backtracking in the Back Streets until you trigger a scene. Cera Terrors will be sent stampeding toward Riku. Defeat them to increase your max HP and deck capacity, and receive a Cera Terror Recipe. Joshua will then direct Riku to the Third District. Head back to the First District, then the Second to the Third. A scene here ends the world. After both scenes have played, you earn the Knockout Punch Keyblade, a Re:coded chronicle, and a glossary entry on the Seven Princesses.

You can now continue to the Country of the Musketeers, but there are still some treasures left in Traverse Town to obtain. Drop to the Fourth District, then exit to the Fountain Plaza. At the very top of the fountain is a large chest containing Blizzard Edge. Return to the Fourth District and from here head to the Fifth District. Past the pool of water there are some boxes leading up to a path on the right. In a gap in the wall here there's a Hi-Potion. Up the stairs and to the left here are some ledges, where you'll find Block-it Chocolate. All the way to the left of this area is a roof holding Troubling Fantasy. Backtrack and enter the Garden. Open the chest by the entrance for a Drop-Me-Not. Use Flowmotion to get to an eastern ledge, where you'll find a chest containing a Royal Cake. To the very back of this area is a chest on the floor containing a Hi-Potion. Turn around and at the bottom of the stairs you'll find two chests; one contains a Nightmare and the other ten Paint Guns: Green. Return to the Fourth District and exit to the World Map to continue on to the next world.
