As in all other games in the series, Keyblades are determined by the Keychains that are attached to them. Sora obtains Keychains after clearing certain objectives (usually defeating the final boss of a world), and these Keychains allow him to alter his Keyblade. New to Kingdom Hearts III are the ability to upgrade Keyblades through the use of materials, and the Formchanges and Shotlocks that are unique to each Keyblade. Like Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, you can also equip Donald and Goofy with weapons that allow them to do more damage. These weapons also have certain passive abilities linked to them, allowing for better contributions from Sora's party members.
