The Halberd, Meta Knights Ship
Control selector Select controller:
SNES,DS

This mode has timed stages, but if you keep moving, they won’t be a problem, unless you have issues killing bosses.

Halberd, part 1:[edit]

You’ll start out on the deck of the Halberd. Continue right, and enter the door. You’ll end up in a shaft going downwards. You’ll hear the captain say something about a Heavy Lobster. That doesn’t sound good, but ignore it and climb down the shaft. Enter the door, and Kirby will appear outside the Halberd’s booster. Boss music will commence.

Boss: Heavy Lobster[edit]

Ignore the boss. This is a fixed fight. The airship will blast off, whether or not you beat the Lobster, so if you want to take the easy way out, you’ll puff up to the top and wait for the ship to blast off.

Orange Ocean[edit]

You’ll hear Meta Knight say something about taking over Grape Gardens (level 4 in Nightmare in Dreamland). Follow the ship to the right, and you’ll encounter that Iron Mam boss from Dyna Blade.

Boss: Iron Mam[edit]

Iron Mam has very basic attacks. She’ll either try to slam her round fists into you, or slam her tiny body into you. Sometimes she’ll try to grab you. Melee attacks work the best on this boss, mainly because it stays still so much.

After you’ve finished off Iron Mam, head right and enter the door. Continue right. About halfway in the middle of the water part, you can find a Maxim Tomato. Enter the door at the end of the room. You’ll end up in another scrolling screen area. Continue moving right, always staying one step ahead. After you reach the top of the ladder, slow down slightly to prevent getting hit by scarifies. Enter the door at the end. You’ll end up in a room with a Maxim Tomato and three copy Essences. Continue to face the boss, a real familiar one.

Boss: Whispy Woods.[edit]

A gigantic tree with a Cappy-like face. He mainly tries to spit air pockets at you or drop apples, so avoid them. If the apples get too close, press R Button to guard, which should block all damage. Since this boss can’t move, both Range and Melee attacks are effective, though Bomb is the best.

After Whispy is killed again, a hole will open in the ground. Drop through for two Whispys at once!

Boss: Twin woods[edit]

Most of the attacks are the same. There is an attack where the twins will have parts of their trunk fly from one twin to the other, and Worm thingies come down with the apples. After you kill the first twin, the other one will start spinning around, and Gordos, worms, and a ton of apples will fall down on you. Both range and Melee attacks are good on these two. Grab the warp star.

Kirby will fly up by the Halberd, be shot down, and land in some woods.

Candy Mountain:[edit]

Maneuver Kirby to the left. Enter the tree. Enter the door halfway up for a room with a switch. It will drop a Shotzo cannon, and a Maxim tomato. Exit, and continue heading up. Enter the door at the very top. Head left, and you’ll face two Bonkers.

Boss: 2 Bonkers[edit]

Bonkers looks like a brown gorilla kind of thing with a big hammer. His attacks include the usual mindless mini boss jumping, and attacking you with his hammer. Occasionally, he’ll throw those annoying explosive nut things at you. Avoid those. Use Melee attacks, because Bonkers likes to stay still and plan out his attacks. Since there are two, focus attacks on one, eat the first one and make a helper. Then finish it off with your helper and eat him for the Hammer ability.

After both Bonkers are in the bag, continue left. When you see a Maxim Tomato hidden in an alcove, head right at the very top. You’ll find a stump, a Maxim Tomato, and a life. After getting these, head left again. Enter the door and float up to bypass most of this room. After that, continue right, and enter the door. You’ll reach a room with two cannons and two Burnin' Leos. If you still have the Hammer ability, then go up to the cannon and the right side and press up-B to do a flaming hammer attack, then simply enter the cannon. If you lost it, then eat one of the Burnin' Leo’s and use the Cannon to blast up to Dyna’s nest.

Dyna Blade is much nicer this time around. She’ll even give you a ride!

Halberd, part 2[edit]

You’ve managed to finally make it back on board the Halberd. Head right. Enter the door and continue right.

Boss: Meta Knight minions[edit]

You’ll fight two groups of these guys. One of them is a walking skull with an axe, another is a tinier Bonkers looking guy with a Mace. Another one is a little crown wearing one with a Jetpack and a Trident. Last but not least, we have the little spinning robot one.

After you’ve given the Meta Knights a beating, head into the door. Captain Vul will say something about a cannon. Climb up the shaft and destroy the bomb black to make it easy to get past those Shotzos. Enter the door. Head right, and do not break the Star Blocks. You’ll face another boss after the Bio Spark.

Boss: Jukid and Poppy Bros. Senior[edit]

Jukid will try to grab you, stomp on you, shoot energy balls at you, but shouldn’t be much trouble. Use the same strategy as before for Poppy Bros. Senior.

Continue to the right, and enter the door. Grab the Maxim Tomato and enter the door.

Boss: Main Cannon #2[edit]

A boss with three parts, the main cannon, a special laser cannon (the one that shot down Dyna Blade earlier), and an arm. The Cannon does nothing but shoot at you. The Laser cannon does nothing but shoot beams every thirty seconds or so. The hand will either grab you, or drop bombs. Get rid of your power, unless you have Bomb. To get Bomb in this fight, swallow one of the cannon balls from the main cannon, or eat the bombs the hand drops. The strategy here is to finish off the laser cannon first, and then kill the main cannon. The main cannon is where the health bar is derived from, but you'll find the battle much easier with the laser cannon gone. The hand has a nasty habit of coming back after you destroy it, so throw a bomb at it if it gets too close. Range attacks are better on this guy, because he’s so big. You should finish off the main cannon no problem.

Halberd, part 3[edit]

After listening to the captain freak out, continue right, being careful not to fall. At the end grab the Warp Star. You’ll end up in a hall with some wind. Continue right, and detonate Bomb Blocks to find passages down. Occasionally the wind will make it hard to continue. Press left twice to do a dash. It’s faster than walking and will make it slightly faster considering the time limit. Once you reach the bottom, continue right and fight another boss.

Boss: Mr. Frosty[edit]

A walrus with a bad attitude. He mainly attacks by trying to jump on or slam into you. If you want to use an ability, make sure they're Range attacks. Being next to Mr. Frosty for too long can be dangerous, considering his hyper personality. He also does this attack where he’ll put you in his mouth and shoot you into the wall at the other end of the room, in this case the sides of the screen.

Grab the Warp Star and go to the next section of the ship.

Halberd, part 4[edit]

Kirby will appear in near a big hole. After listening to the Skull Knight tell the captain stuff you already know, enter the hole. The music will change and you’ll appear in the air ducts. Continue through the ducts, being careful not to get shocked, or burned. After the elevator, you’ll see some more of those switch door things. If you don’t already have a range ability, swallow the Sir Kibble for the cutter ability. Stand next to the door and activate the switch. Once you see the door, you’ll also see a passage upward. This leads to a secret armory that will make it much easier to fight the next boss. Head near it and a scrolling screen will activate. Head up as quickly as possible, and enter the door. The captain will say you’ve entered the ship’s armory. Grab the beam ability and enter the door.

Boss: Heavy Lobster[edit]

Unfortunately at first, you’ll start out at in a scrolling screen, near a wall. Do not attack Heavy Lobster, he’s invincible right now so stay a couple steps ahead of him and continue right. When you reach some platforms in the middle of the room, head up. When you reach the top, Heavy Lobster will leap up to the very top and the fight will commence.

Heavy Lobster likes to leap around a lot. He’ll also try to ram into you with a running attack. He’ll also make a miniature Heavy Lobster that will slam into you and blow up. When his claw opens up, he’ll either make one of those mini Heavy Lobsters, or he’ll make a little blob of paint, or he’ll shoot out a gigantic ray of fire. When he ducks and a couple puffs of smoke come out, he’ll try to ram you at high speed. Puff up to the top to avoid that. Get rid of your ability and swallow the paint thing to get the special Paint ability and use it on Heavy Lobster. A decent amount of damage will come out of him, along with a palette change. Afterwards, just spit the mini Lobsters back at him. If you don't want to tough it out, simply use the Beam ability you to got in the Armory. Hold down Y Button until Kirby ducks, and you’ll shoot out a big beam.

After you finish off Heavy Lobster, a cutscene will ensue.

Halberd, part 5[edit]

Continue down, and avoid the cannons at all costs! Once you get closer to bottom, it’s possible to be shot of screen and lose a life. Once you reach the bottom, enter the door. Continue left, being careful not to fall or let the wind boss you around. If you don’t have an ability, just puff up next to the bomb block and let the air go. Enter the door. Continue right, and grab the Wing ability. Stand above the switch on the ground and flap up. Press Y Button to shoot a feather at the top switch, land on the bottom switch and run to the right as fast as you can. Press the switch next to the door, and descend the ladder, shoot a feather, climb the ladder back up, and run over the switch on the way and just keep running.

When you reach the elevator, run past it. At the next elevator go all the way down and press the switch. Go back to the first elevator and descend. Along the way down there is a Yo-Yo ability and a life. Descend all the way down with the Yo-Yo. Head right, and use the Yo-Yo on the bomb block and enter the door. You’ll end up in the Purple Knight’s secret food stash. After healing, continue right, and enter the door. You’ll end up in a hall with a Bomb Essence, and a Maxim Tomato. Enter the door to fight the reactor.

Boss: Reactor[edit]

This boss couldn’t be easier. Just stand on the little ledge next to the crystal and puff up when the laser shoots. The Crystal will be damaged and simply stand on the ledge again. Watch the floor carefully, because a flamethrower thing will position itself under you and try to burn you. After that’s over, the little cannon on the side will shoot a blast of fire. After that the cycle repeats. Just keep doing the last steps over and over, and you’ll come out unscathed.

After the reactor blows, simply let the crew talk. The Reactor will blow, and this mode is almost at an end.

Halberd, part 6[edit]

Grab the Yo-Yo ability; it’ll help a lot in this next moving screen. Enter the door and grab the Tomato. Ascend the elevator, and you’ll fight another boss.

Boss: Meta Knights[edit]

These guys are a pain but easy. Simply take them down with your Yo-Yo.

Ascend the second elevator and enter another Ability hall with a Tomato in it. Enter the door with the long awaited Meta Knight fight!

Boss: Meta Knight[edit]

Meta Knight will give you a Sword at the beginning of the fight. Meta Knight’s attacks include trying to make shockwaves with his sword, and trying to hit you with his sword. Occasionally, he’ll turn into a tornado and try to hit you. When he dives into the corner and holds up his sword, go behind him as quickly as possible. When he does this, he’ll make a spinning vortex that will get a lot out of your health bar. When a blue ball appears on his sword, he’s going to dive across the screen. He’ll also make arcs pop out of sword, and try to dive on you. The sword is the best on this guy, mainly because it can block his attacks.

After Meta Knight’s mask cracks, he’ll pull himself into his cloak and shoot off. Then the cabin will blow.

Escaping the Halberd[edit]

The Halberd’s health bar is completely empty, you have to escape now! One of the Wheelies from the Reactor will help you escape.

Boss: Winged Meta Knight[edit]

This is not a boss as much as it is a distraction. Meta Knight will try to kill you with attacks. Ignore him and press B. The Wheelie will zoom out of the way. Jump whenever you see a hole or a wall. You only have 45 seconds to escape before the Halberd lands in the Ocean and you’re killed. Keep moving and ignore Meta Knight. When you see a tiny ramp next to a big hole, let yourself go off the edge.

The Halberd will fall underneath the ocean, and Kirby will go home.
