Controls[edit]

  • Steering Wheel/Accelerator Pedal: If you are Lucky, use the steering wheel and accelerator pedal to drive the car just as you would with a real car.
  • Lightgun: Regardless of whether you are Lucky or Wild, use the lightguns to direct your gunsights around the screen and squeeze the trigger to fire.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin the game as player 1 (Lucky), or player 2 (Wild); the car will drive by itself if only Wild is present.

Characters[edit]

Lucky and Wild[edit]

LW Lucky & Wild.jpg

These Neo Field police officers are the protagonists of the game; they are on a mission to capture six wanted suspects who are members of the narcotics syndicate "Big Cigar", and Lucky must both drive their red car through each of the game's six stages, while shooting through the front window (which is always shattered at the start of each stage), but Wild must only shoot through the front window if he's present. Each time they get hit, the text of "DAMAGE" will appear at the bottom of the screen and the joint life bar (like in Galaxian³) will decrease - and when they are low on energy the text of "DANGER" will appear over the life bar and a warning sound effect will start to be heard from the C140. However, they will regain their energy at the end of all except the final act, at the "Pink Cats Garage" for repairs; this establishment is not run by the Mewkies from Mappy, but is a diner/customization shop where the waitresses/mechanics are required to wear cat's-ear bands and stick-on tails as part of their uniforms.

The Jerrys and Jeffs also look like larger versions of the Galvezes and Carloses, and it is also worth noting that there is a type of enemy called Hunters that parachute down into view from the top of the screen during the battles with "Keel", but do not land anywhere near you (and they look like this): LW Hunter.gif

Bosses[edit]

LW Jerky Mugshot.png

STAGE 1: "Jerky" - Sex: Male, Age: 32 (born 1960), Crime: Drug Trafficking; at the start of the stage, he will fire a shot at Lucky and Wild's red car from his own white car (which has the text of "BOSS" flashing above it) and shatter the windscreen before driving away. Once they come to it at the end of the stage, it will have two Carloses, two Galvezes and two Bobs firing shots and throwing grenades at you from it - and once you have fired a shot at all six of these criminals to kill them, two Snipers and a Killer will emerge from it, and start firing missiles at you. Once you have fired a shot at each of them to kill them and enough shots at the car to blow its engine, it will spin around in an anticlockwise direction and stop, as "Jerky" emerges from it and tries to run away but falls over; the screen will then cut off to a static image of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at him. You will then receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars"), for every criminal you had killed during the stage (kept track of by the computer in that bottom-right corner of the screen), along with 2500 bonus points (or "dollars") for capturing "Jerky" himself - however, if the timer should run out, he'll drive away into the distance, as the text "GOT AWAY" appears on the screen, and you will not receive the 2500-point bonus for his capture.

LW Gambit Mugshot.png

STAGE 2: "Gambit" - Sex: Male, Age: 27 (born 1965), Crime: Narcotics Robbery; at the start of the stage, he'll fire a shot at Lucky and Wild's car from his white truck (which has the text "BOSS" flashing up above it) and shatter the windscreen again before driving away. Once they come to it at the end of the stage, its back doors will open up to reveal five Oil Drums as they begin rolling towards you - and once you fire a shot at each of them to destroy them, two Billys will emerge from behind the boxes in the back of the truck and start firing shots at you. Once you have fired a shot at both of them to kill them, a Jonny will emerge from behind the boxes and start firing shots at you; once you fire a shot at him to kill him, two Jims will emerge from behind the boxes and start throwing grenades at you. Once you have fired a shot at both of them to kill them two Chrises will emerge from behind the boxes and start firing missiles at you; once you have fired a shot at both of them to kill them, a Bomber will emerge from behind the boxes and start throwing an infinite amount of additional Oil Drums at you. Once you have fired a shot at him to kill him (and enough shots at the truck to blow its back doors off), it will slow down and stop, and the screen will cut to a static image of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at "Gambit" - and you'll then receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars") for every criminal you killed during the stage, along with 2500 bonus points (or "dollars") for capturing "Gambit" himself. However, if the timer should run out, he'll drive away into the distance as the text "GOT AWAY" appears on the screen, and you will not receive the 2500-point bonus for his capture; he also looks like Bebop from TMNT before his mutation.

LW Juliora Mugshot.png

STAGE 3: "Juliora" - Sex: Female, Age: 23 (born: 1969), Crime: Drug Trafficking; at the start of that stage, she'll fire a shot at Lucky and Wild's car from her yellow one (which has the text "BOSS" of flashing up above it), and shatter the windscreen once again, before driving away. Once they've caught up to it at the end of the stage, its doors will flip up and throw grenades at you - and once you have fired enough shots at its doors to destroy them, a Galvez and a Carlos will emerge from it and start firing shots at you. Once you have fired a shot at both of these criminals to kill them and enough shots at "Juliora"'s yellow car to blow its engine, it will perform a somersault and land on its roof; the screen will then cut to a static image of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at "Juliora" (she will not emerge from the car and try to run away, like "Jerky" did). You will then receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars") for every criminal you killed during the stage, once again kept track of by the computer in the bottom-right corner of the screen) along with 2800 bonus points (or "dollars") for capturing "Juliora" herself - however, if the timer should run out, she will drive away into the distance as the text "GOT AWAY" appears on the screen, and you'll once again not receive the 2800-point bonus for her capture.

LW Keel Mugshot.png

STAGE 4: "Keel" - Sex: Male, Age: 25 (born 1967), Crime: Destruction of Property; at the start of the stage, he'll fire a shot at Lucky and Wild's car from his black truck (which has that text "BOSS" of flashing up above it), then shatter the windscreen yet again, before driving away. Once they come to it, at the end of the stage, its back shutter will open up to reveal a blue car, which will then roll down the lower shutter onto the road to reveal a white one - as the white car will then follow the blue one down the lower shutter to reveal a Black Car. The Black Car will then follow the white one down the lower shutter onto the road as a Carlos emerges from it (and starts firing shots at you); once you've fired a shot at the Carlos to kill him, two Michaels will emerge from the car, then start throwing grenades at you. Once you have fired a shot at both of the Michaels to kill them, two Galvezes will emerge from the car and start firing shots at you - and once you have fired off a shot at both of the Galvezes to kill them (and enough shots at the Black Car to destroy it), the truck will start shooting fire at you from its roof-mounted flamethrower as two Andys appear in its back to begin firing Tomahawk Missiles at you. Once you have fired a shot at both of the Andys to kill them and enough shots at the truck to blow its engine, it will explode and slow down to a stop, and the screen will cut to a shot of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at "Keel"; you will now receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars") for every criminal you have killed during the stage (yet again kept track of by the computer in the bottom-right corner of the screen) along with 2800 bonus points (or "dollars") for capturing "Keel" himself. However, if the timer should run out he will drive away into the distance, as the text of "GOT AWAY" appears upon the screen - and you will, yet again, not receive the 2800-point bonus for his capture as a result.

LW Bear Mugshot.png

STAGE 5: "Bear" - Sex: Male, Age: 43 (born 1949), Crime: Smuggling Weapons; at the start of the stage, his enormous red monster truck (which has that text of "BOSS" flashing above it) will crash through the window of the building on the left side of the screen, then fire one shot at Lucky and Wild's car to shatter its windscreen for a fifth time before driving away; once you come up to it at the end of the stage, it has a Killer and a Sniper firing both regular and tomahawk missiles at you from it. Once you have fired a shot at the Killer and the Sniper to kill them and enough shots at "Bear"'s red monster truck to blow its engine, it will be thrown into the air and perform a somersault, then land and roll over several times, before eventually stopping on its side - "Bear" will then fall out of the cab and onto the ground, and the screen will cut to a shot of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at him. You will then receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars"), for every criminal you killed during the stage (for a fifth time, it is kept track of by that computer in the bottom-right screen corner), along with 3000 bonus points (or "dollars") for capturing "Bear" himself; however, if that timer should run out, he will drive away into the distance, as that text of "GOT AWAY" appears upon the screen. You will, for a fifth time, not receive that 3000-point bonus for his capture as a result; there's only one more boss left to describe now, but he doesn't take so many hits to defeat.

LW Big Cigar Mugshot.png

STAGE 6: "Big Cigar" - Sex: Male, Age: 56 (born 1936), Crime: Gang Ringleader; at the start of the stage Lucky and Wild will come to a team of police officers who are firing shots at the building upon the right side of the screen. "Big Cigar" will then fire a shot at their car from his black one (which has the text "BOSS" flashing above it) and shatter its windscreen for a sixth and final time before driving away - and, once they come to it (towards the end of that stage), two Carloses will be firing shots at them from it. Once you have fired a shot at both of them to kill them you'll come to ten stationary Oil Drums; once you have fired a shot at each of them to destroy them, a third Carlos and a Daniel will emerge from the car and start firing shots at you. Once you've fired a shot at both of them to kill them, you will come to sixty more stationary Oil Drums; once you've fired a shot at each of them to destroy them, a diamond-shaped sign with an exclamation mark inside it and the text "DANGER!" will start flashing up on the screen as you crash through the shutter of a harbour warehouse. A fourth Carlos and a second Daniel will then emerge from the car and start firing shots at you; once you fire off a shot at both of them to kill them, a Fire and a Michael will emerge from the car, and start throwing Molotov cocktails and grenades at you. Once you've fired a shot at both of them to kill them, two more Fires will emerge from the car, and start throwing Molotov cocktails at you - and once you fire a shot at both of them to kill them, two more Michaels will emerge from the car, and start throwing grenades at you. Once you've fired a shot at both of these to kill them, you will come out of the warehouse, as the car slows down and stops (as does yours); "Big Cigar" will then emerge from it and hide behind the four boxes on the right side of the screen, then start firing more laser beams at you (as you are firing upon him, the boot of his car will open up and fire missiles at you). Once you have fired enough shots at him to take him down your car will slowly move forward towards the boxes - and "Big Cigar" will then suddenly come back up into view from the bottom of the screen, and start firing more shots at you. Once you have fired one last shot at him, he will fall down off the bottom of the screen again and the screen will cut to a shot of Lucky and Wild pointing their guns at him; it will then move downwards as two shots of Lucky and Wild fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen above it,and widen as the camera pans upwards into the night sky. You'll then receive 80 bonus points (or "dollars") for every criminal you had killed during the stage (for a sixth, final time, kept track of by the computer in the screen's bottom-right corner), along with 4000 bonus points for capturing "Big Cigar" himself - but if the timer should run out, he will jump into the ocean and swim away as the text of "GOT AWAY" appears upon the screen. You will, for a sixth and final time, not receive that 4000-point bonus for his capture as a result; this can put a damper on seeing the game's ending sequence as you are watching it.
