Lupin Sansei: Pandora no Isan (ルパン三世 パンドラの遺産? lit. Lupin the Third: Inheritance of Pandora) is an action game developed by Namco in 1987 for the Famicom. It is based upon the characters in the popular Lupin the Third manga and anime series. Players can select to play as Lupin himself, Jigen the marksman, or the renegade samurai Goemon.
The game's story appears to take place shortly after the 1979 movie The Castle of Cagliostro, as it involves the kidnapping of Clarisse, a character who was introduced in that movie. Players must infiltrate the locations of several suspects who may be behind the kidnapping, as they travel around the globe through four stages. Play style is a cross between side scrolling exploration, and the multi-tiered shooting concept originally explored in Namco's Rolling Thunder.
The game was never released outside of Japan, primarily due to the relative lack of familiar with Lupin the Third that non-Japanese audiences had. Although somewhat playable without translation, a fan-made translation patch has been made available by Vice Translations in 2004, and can be found here.
