Players[edit | edit source]
You control Popolon and Aphrodite in their combined effort to navigate their way through the castle maze of Galious, explore each dungeon and defeat the boss inside, and ultimately defeat Galious himself. In order to do this, you will have to make use of both of their talents. Only one character may be active at any given moment. Each character has strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to you to determine which character to utilize at any given moment. You may switch characters at almost any time by bringing up the menu and selecting the other character (although in some dungeons, you won't be able to use one of the players without the proper item.)
Aside from the differences detailed in the table below, Popolon and Aphrodite are quite similar. They move at the same speed and attack with the same strength. They each have a separate vitality meter which drains whenever one of them get hit by an enemy. Each time they kill an enemy, their experience meter grows. Whenever one of their experience meters fills up completely, that character's vitality is completely refilled to the current maximum. However, if one character's vitality meter is drained, they will pass away. The other character must take over, and successfully reach the chamber of resurrection in order to restore life to the defeated player. If both characters are defeated, the game is over.
As mentioned before, Popolon and Aphrodite have different strengths and weaknesses. For one thing, only Popolon can push through the very heavy yellow rotating doors found throughout the castle. Below is a chart of more differences between Popolon and Aphrodite.
