This page describes the Bounty Hunter system and the Flame Wolf system.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

Bounty Portals and Flame Wolf are introduced to break the monotony of grinding. They will appear when the player activated certain conditions, and only that player can enter the portal being spawned in the map. (These portals will remove the player from the map, so the map will be vacant if the player was alone.)

Conditions[edit | edit source]

The spawn conditions for the Bounty Hunter portals and Flame Wolf portals are as follows.

Bounty Portals
  • Phase 0: At least 10 minutes after the previous bounty portal disappearance
  • Phase 1: After Phase 0, kill 1,000 monsters within 20 levels from your character by yourself
    • During Haste+ events: After Phase 0, kill 500 monsters within 20 levels from your character by yourself
  • Phase 2: After Phase 1, each monster within 20 levels from your character killed by yourself has a chance to spawn the bounty portal by yourself
    • During Haste+ events, the chance of spawning the portal is increased

Every 4th Bounty Portal spawned by the same character, it will be an Especia Bounty Portal instead.

Flame Wolf
  • Phase 0: At least 15 minutes after the previous flame wolf portal disappearance
  • Phase 1: After Phase 0, kill 1,000 monsters within 20 levels from your character by yourself
    • During Haste+ events: After Phase 0, kill 500 monsters within 20 levels from your character by yourself
  • Phase 2: After Phase 1, each monster within 20 levels from your character killed by yourself has a chance to spawn the flame wolf portal by yourself
    • During Haste+ events, the chance of spawning the portal is increased

Both the Bounty Hunter portal and the Flame Wolf portal cannot appear at the same time, and Elite Monster/Champion/Bosses cannot spawn any portals.

By default, if you waited sufficiently long enough, you will already be at Phase 1. Kill counts made in Phase 1 will be saved on the character even when logging out.

Additional notes
  • The daily entrance limit is 15 Bounty Hunter portals, 5 Especia Bounty Hunter portals and 5 Flame Wolf portals per character.
  • The entrance limit is not consumed if you chose not to enter the portal.
  • When either Bounty Hunter portals or Especia Bounty Hunter portals have reached its daily entrance limit, both types of Bounty Hunter portals will not spawn for the day.
  • The progress to spawn an Especia Bounty Portal is saved on the character.
  • For bounty hunter portals, you can immediately reject it to make it go to Phase 0 immediately, while for flame wolf portals it is impossible to do so.
  • Bounty portals and flame wolf portals will automatically disappear after 90 seconds if not entered, and changing maps will not make it disappear early.
  • Combo kills are protected when entering bounty portals and flame wolf portals.

Alternatively, for bounty portals, the "Polo and Frito Admission Ticket" can be used on a map containing monsters within 20 levels from your character. However, it shares the daily limit of 20 entries per character, and it does not affect the spawn progress of the bounty portal in the conventional way. Also, combo kills will not be protected when entering using the ticket.

The ticket can be obtained from event coin shops, but it has never returned for quite some time.

Bounty Portal[edit | edit source]

There are a total of 6 types of possible activities: 3 of the activities are related to Polo, and 3 of them are related to Frito. The NPC will be revealed when attempting to enter the portal. A common theme is that Polo portals involve killing monsters, while Frito portals involve mini games unrelated to hunting.

Polo[edit | edit source]

The activities for Polo are: Protect Polo, Castle Defense and Stormwing Hunt.

Protect Polo[edit | edit source]

In this stage, kill 5 waves of monsters while preventing them from attacking Polo too much that he dies (It is actually really hard for Polo to die actually). Even if Polo does not die, there is a time limit of 3 minutes.

Maximum Base Reward based on level 220+ arcane/authentic force maps: 800.98 times the monster EXP of the map, based on the monster that triggered the portal spawn. EXP rewarded is not affected by level advantage multipliers, but it is affected by your own EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Castle Defense[edit | edit source]

In this stage, kill 3 waves of monsters while preventing them from reaching the other ends of the map. Monsters will appear from the top left and bottom right at the same time, and will travel to the top right and bottom left respectively. The stage terminates immediately once 20 monsters across all 3 waves have reached the opposite ends.

Maximum Base Reward based on level 220+ arcane/authentic force maps: 850.34 times the monster EXP of the map, based on the monster that triggered the portal spawn. EXP rewarded is not affected by level advantage multipliers, but it is affected by your own EXP multipliers. Monsters that reached the opposite ends are killed by Polo, but they will not provide any EXP. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Stormwing Hunt[edit | edit source]

In this stage, just kill as many monsters as you can. These monsters have higher HP than other stages, and they do not count as boss monsters. The time limit is 30 seconds, and 1 stormwing will appear. Up to 4 more stormwings can appear in the same way, 3 seconds after the previous stormwing is killed. The base time limit is 30 seconds, and each stormwing killed increases the time limit by 6 seconds (total +30 seconds). However, once 200 monsters have been killed, time limit will be fixed to 5 seconds, stormwings killed afterwards will not increase the time limit and no new monsters will spawn. However, leftover monsters can still be killed for EXP.

Base Reward based on level 220+ arcane/authentic force maps:

  • Normal monsters: 3.12 or 3.43
  • Stormwing: 62.26
  • Snowman (rare spawn): 31.13

EXP rewarded is based on the numbers above times the monster EXP of the map, based on the monster that triggered the portal spawn. It is not affected by level advantage multipliers, but it is affected by your own EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Frito[edit | edit source]

The activities for Frito are: Dragon Egg Steal, Bird Hunting and Courtship Dance.

Dragon Egg Steal[edit | edit source]

In this stage, just try your luck and go upwards. The stage terminates once you attempt to go upwards but failed. The side that you stand on has no bearing on the actual result (estimate chance of around 70% to go upwards). There is a time limit of 30 seconds, and when you somehow managed to reach the dragon egg, click on the dragon egg to steal it.

Reward List based on level 120+ non-star force maps
  • 0 successes: 1 Basic Bounty Pouch + 240 times EXP
  • 1 success: 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 480 times EXP
  • 2 successes: 2 Intermediate Bounty Pouches + 720 times EXP
  • 3 successes: 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch + 1,200 times EXP
  • 4 successes: 2 Advanced Bounty Pouches + 1,680 times EXP
  • 5 successes + stole the dragon egg: 1 Superior Bounty Pouch + 2,400 times EXP

EXP reward is based on the monster EXP in the map that triggered the portal spawn, and it is not affected by level advantage multipliers and EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Bird Hunting[edit | edit source]

In this stage, use the mouse and click to shoot down the birds. Different birds give different points, and the bald eagles will deduct points instead. The objective is to take down 11 birds (6 small eagles, 3 big eagles and 2 golden eagles) with 20 bullets and within 30 seconds. The number of bullets consumed does not affect the reward, but there is an achievement for obtaining perfect accuracy once.

There are 4 bald eagles too, and those do not need to be killed (you must not kill any of them to get maximum rewards). Note that bald eagle is a collectible monster for Monster Collection, and you cannot shoot them if you killed all birds except bald eagles (Tip: Since 950 points give the same reward as 800 points, you might as well take down the other 3 bald eagles too before taking down the other birds).

Points chart

  • Small eagle: +50
  • Big eagle: +100
  • Golden eagle: +200
  • Bald eagle: -50

If multiple birds overlap, then the priority will be based on: Small eagle -> Big eagle -> Golden eagle -> Bald eagle, with small eagle taking the highest priority.

You must score at least 50 points to qualify for any type of rewards.

Reward List based on level 120+ non-star force maps
  • 50 ~ 300 points: 1 Basic Bounty Pouch + 240 times EXP
  • 350 ~ 600 points: 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 480 times EXP
  • 650 ~ 950 points: 2 Intermediate Bounty Pouches + 720 times EXP
  • 1,000 points: 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch + 1,200 times EXP

EXP reward is based on the monster EXP in the map that triggered the portal spawn, and it is not affected by level advantage multipliers and EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Courtship Dance[edit | edit source]

In this stage, you will play through a long version of harvesting runes. Essentially, just follow the on screen direction keys and press them in sequence. There are 10 waves and they have to be completed in 60 seconds.

  • 1st wave: 4 directions
  • 2nd wave: 6 directions
  • 3rd, 4th and 5th wave: 7 directions each
  • 6th, 7th and 8th wave: 8 directions each
  • 9th and 10th wave: 10 directions each

Total of 75 buttons to press if pressed perfectly. (From a KMS live event trivia)

You must clear at least the 1st wave within 60 seconds to get any form of rewards.

Reward List based on level 120+ non-star force maps
  • 1 ~ 2 successes: 1 Basic Bounty Pouch + 240 times EXP
  • 3 ~ 5 successes: 1 Basic Bounty Pouch + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 480 times EXP
  • 6 ~ 7 successes: 2 Intermediate Bounty Pouches + 720 times EXP
  • 8 ~ 9 successes: 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch + 960 times EXP
  • 10 successes: 2 Advanced Bounty Pouches + 1,200 times EXP

EXP reward is based on the monster EXP in the map that triggered the portal spawn, and it is not affected by level advantage multipliers and EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

Especia Bounty Portal[edit | edit source]

Especia Bounty Portal appears instead of the normal Bounty Portal every 4th Bounty Portal spawned by the same character.

When entering, you have 60 seconds to destroy up to 30 totem blocks, by pressing the "Ctrl" button at the sweet spot. The sweet spot changes each time and the aim oscillates between the left and right at high speeds.

  • Landing in the yellow region counts as "Perfect" and removes 4 blocks.
  • Landing in the red region counts as "Great" and removes 2 blocks.
  • Landing anywhere else counts as "Good" and removes 1 block.

At a small chance, the stage you entered might be blessed by luck, which results in some golden totems appearing (usually none of them will appear). Golden totems provide x1.5 the normal totem's EXP.

Maximum Base Reward based on level 220+ arcane/authentic force maps: 39.47 per block times 30 blocks = 1,184.1 times the monster EXP of the map, based on the monster that triggered the portal spawn. (For every golden totem, it will be 59.21 instead of 39.47 times)

EXP rewarded is not affected by level advantage multipliers, but it is affected by your own EXP multipliers. In star force maps, the multiplier is roughly 1/3 so that the EXP awarded is similar to a non-star force map.

For the case of "Perfect", multi-kill EXP bonus is not applied even though you technically killed 4 blocks.

Flame Wolf[edit | edit source]

For Flame Wolf, just deal damage to the wolf for 20 seconds. The wolf attacks regularly and always repeat in the same cycle, and all attacks ignores stance, even though it has no touch damage. The flame wolf is shared across all players in the same world for the same level ranges.

Level ranges per wolf (based on character level, not monster level)
  • Normal: Level 1~199
  • Chaos: Level 200~259
  • Extreme: Level 260+

Rewards are given based on the wolf difficulty level, whether the wolf is killed, and if it is not killed, then it will be based on your own damage dealt (damage cutoff depends on difficulty level). When the wolf is not killed, the pouch will be withheld until the wolf is killed, so entering another flame wolf before collecting the pouch from the previous one will forfeit the previous result (unclaimed pouch will be set to the latest result, and if the latest result is already claimed, then it is set to "Adequate"). Withheld pouches can be claimed from the quest above the character, called "Defeated the Flame Wolf", when the wolf is killed.

The wolf will automatically die after 1 hour if the entire world could not take it down. Flame wolf is level 1, has 90% DEF and has resistance to all elements including physical. Its HP depends on the difficulty level.

  • Normal: ~10 billion HP
  • Chaos: ~20 trillion HP
  • Extreme: 100 trillion HP

You must be present in flame wolf's lair when the wolf is killed, or deal at least 1 damage to receive any form of reward.

Level 1~199
  • Adequate (1 ~ less than 15 million damage): 400 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch
  • Considerable (15 million ~ less than 150 million damage): 700 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch
  • Critical (150 million damage or more): 750 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch
  • Killed the flame wolf (be in the flame wolf's lair when it dies): 800 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch
Level 200~259
  • Adequate (1 ~ less than 16 billion damage): 600 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch
  • Considerable (16 billion ~ less than 65 billion damage): 1,100 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch
  • Critical (65 bilion damage or more): 1,200 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch
  • Killed the flame wolf (be in the flame wolf's lair when it dies): 1,300 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch
Level 260+
  • Adequate (1 ~ less than 750 billion damage): 800 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch
  • Considerable (750 billion ~ less than 1.6 trillion damage): 1,500 times EXP + 1 Intermediate Bounty Pouch + 1 Advanced Bounty Pouch
  • Critical (1.6 trillion damage or more): 1,600 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch
  • Killed the flame wolf (be in the flame wolf's lair when it dies): 1,700 times EXP + 1 Superior Bounty Pouch

EXP reward is based on the monster EXP in the map that triggered the portal spawn, and it is not affected by level advantage multipliers and EXP multipliers.

"Killed the flame wolf" category will overwrite all rewards above for that particular entry, even if no damage is dealt by yourself.
