Story[edit]
The story goes that Mario has found out that Bowser has been using a time machine, called the Timulator (which looks like a microwave with a warp-pipe sticking out), to go back in time and steal historical artifacts. He then wants to put them all into his personal museum and destroy the Timulator when he is finished. Mario knows he must again stop him and change history back to the way it originally was.
At the start of the game, it begins with a short cutscene where Mario and Yoshi go to Bowser's Museum. They are about to go inside, when Yoshi decides to throw Mario off his back and runs inside the museum by himself. Bowser appears at the entrance and tells Mario he has captured Yoshi. Now Mario must return all the artifacts to there proper places in time and rescue his buddy.
Stages[edit]
There are 14 stages throughout 7 doors in the museum. There is a final eighth door that is only accessible when all the artifacts are returned to their proper time period and a three question quiz is completed. This last door contains a boss battle with Bowser, Yoshi's freedom and eventually the end of the game.
The game allows the player to choose their own route, but this guide is explained in order from the first door to the last. The guide explains which artifacts are obtained from the doors and which time period they belong to. In addition to that, it also states where specifically the item belongs in that time period. The images for the guides show where Mario must be and what item to use during that time period. This is crucial because if Mario is standing in the wrong location and fails to place the item in the correct location a bird will fly by and steal the artifact. The only option after is to exit the stage, re-obtain the artifact and retry in the stage. The guide then finishes with the congratulatory newspaper that comes out at the end of every level with the password so far.
