The Gauntlet is a mode in the Challenge Node where you fight bosses you fought previously in the game. Well, their not exactly the same bosses... their stronger, harder versions of bosses. Here's a description on all of them.

Class 1: Durmite X[edit]

  • HP: 575
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 867
  • Cost to Battle: 200 Coins
  • Turns: 5
  • Prize: 1,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 18+
  • Originally Fought In: Nerve Cluster

Durmite is the weird boss that you originally fought when Bowser got a stomachache from the carrot Wiggler forced him to eat. Her attacks don't change other than being slightly faster and powerful than the original attacks. Other than that, she should be fairly easy.

Class 2: Alpha Kretin X[edit]

  • HP: 810
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 1,215
  • Cost to Battle: 400 Coins
  • Turns: 15
  • Prize: 2,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 22+
  • Originally Fought In: Flab Zone

Alpha Kretin is the boss you fought when Bowser got fat from eating Fawful's special food. He doesn't change from his original form other than what Durmite went through, although, for a quick rundown, Alpha Kretin is made out of six Kretins - Mario can only attack the red Kretins, while Luigi can only attack the green Kretins. Once all six are defeated, Alpha Kretin will revert into Beta Kretin, a single blue Kretin. Other than that, he shouldn't be hard.

Class 3: Wisdurm[edit]

  • HP: 2,380
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 3,570
  • Cost to Battle: 800 Coins
  • Turns: 18
  • Prize: 4,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 26+
  • Originally Fought In: Energy Hold

Wisdurm, fully known as Wisdurm Durmite, is the boss that contained the first Star Cure. For a quick rundown:

Wisdurm will start out very small and extremely weak - but once the meter on top fills, she'll enlarge in size and become much stronger and powerful. In her small form, Wisdurm's only attack is to fly on a cocoon, which can easily be dodged with a hammer attack. When enlarged, she has three different attacks.

Also note the weird heart-shaped tail on her back: if you hit it, the meter will go down. If it goes down all the way, Wisdurm will revert back to her small form, making her a vulnerable target again. This boss really shouldn't be hard.

Class 4: Bowser Memory MLX[edit]

  • HP: 2,500 (Bowser Memory MX), 3,000 (Bowser Memory LX), 5,500 (Total)
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 3,750 (Bowser Memory MX), 4,500 (Bowser Memory LX), 8,250 (Total)
  • Cost to Battle: 1,200 Coins
  • Turns: 10
  • Prize: 6,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 30+
  • Originally Fought In: Memory Banks

Bowser Memory M and Bowser Memory L are the two viruses in Bowser's brain. This is where the X bosses can get difficult, because both of them have different stats (Memory M is more offensive, while Memory L has more HP and is more defensive). Also, if you happen to defeat Memory M first, Memory L will simply revive him (thankfully only 250 HP). Because of this, you'll want to defeat Memory L first - however, he will often run offscreen, so stick to Memory M then until Memory L returns.

Class 5: Junker X[edit]

  • HP: 3,080
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 4,620
  • Cost to Battle: 1,800 Coins
  • Turns: 15
  • Prize: 9,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 35+
  • Originally Fought In: Peach's Castle Garden

Junker was one of the bosses that was close to the end of the game. Junker isn't EXTREMELY hard but has it's difficulty factors. For one, he will commonly suck up Luigi and put him into one of the his trash can minions - there is no way to dodge this attack, so you will just have to bond with it and defeat the trash can containing Luigi. He also has a variety of other powerful attacks and his trash can minions have various other contents when defeated. Junker isn't the most difficult boss but still has a contributing factor to it's difficulty.

Class 6: Dark Star X[edit]

  • HP: 4,030
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 6,045
  • Cost to Battle: 2,500 Coins
  • Turns: 12
  • Prize: 12,500 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 40+
  • Originally Fought In: Airway

The Dark Star was one of the final bosses in the game before the true final boss. His difficulty is fairly high because at the start of the battle, ANY attack on him won't even do a scratch on him - he will take zero damage, and his attacks are more difficult to avoid (for example, during the attack where he splits into 7 clones, the clones will disappear earlier). To make him vulnerable, you need to first defeat the two Dark Satellmite's that join him. Once both of them are robbed of all their HP, the Dark Star will make them fly on a bomb - the Satellmite goes after one bro, while the bomb goes after the other. ONLY FOCUS ON THE BRO WITH THE SATELLMITE. If you hit the bomb (which is attacked by your hammer), the bro with the bomb will take a lot of damage. Once two satellmite's hit him, the Dark Star's weak point will be exposed and you can freely attack him at will. Try to use as many powerful attacks as you can, though, because after a few attacks, the Dark Star will revive into it's invulnerable form.

Class 7: Marathon[edit]

  • Cost to Battle: 5,000 Coins
  • Turns: 35
  • Prize: 25,000 Coins
  • Recommended Level: 50+

  • HP: 7,155
  • HP (with Challenge Medal): 9,999
  • Originally Fought In: Toadley Clinic

This is it, the true, ultimate, the most difficult, the most powerful, THE most offensive and defensive boss in the ENTIRE game. This boss not only has more powerful versions of his original attacks, he has three brand new ones, and all three are very treacherous to your mind. Bowser can punch you, blow fire on you, and use two of his special attacks (Goomba Storm and Shy Guy Squad). But here are his three brand new attacks:

  • Bowser will quadruple his size and blow fireballs at you. Watch the shadows of the fireballs because not all of them are going to hit you, and jump over only the ones that are directly coming after you. After this, Bowser will chase you while you have to dodge him and various fire sprouting from the ground. Jump over any that appear in the path. If you make it to the trampolines at the end, you're safe.
  • Bowser will blow fireballs at you. Once you whack one, he'll curl into a ball and rain fire down on you - whack the ones that are coming for you. Afterwards, before falling down from the air to hit you - whack his shell to repel the attack, otherwise it will really hurt.
  • Bowser will use his Vacuum move to suck up one of your special moves anytime you use one.

Because of his stats, Bowser is extremely difficult to fight at first, but if you can level grind to level 50 or higher, you're sure to defeat him.
