Upon leaving the Stardust Fields Cave, several soldiers surround you and interrogate you about Prince Peasley. However, Tolstar appears and tells them that the Mario Bros. are innocent. Proceed to the next area.

Hoohoo Village[edit]

There are several items to be found here. If you take the bottom path upon entering, you'll find a cave with a Mushroom and some coins. West of the cave, there's another ? Block with a Mushroom. Proceed west.

The next room has a Save Journal. There are two paths that you can choose between. Take the bottom one. Continue west until you encounter Fawful. He takes out a soldier, and then he blocks your path with a giant stone statue. Return to the junction with the Save Journal and enter the cave on the upper path.

The cave has several ? Blocks with coins or Mushrooms. Head west in the cave, climb up, and then head east on a higher path. There is another room with ? Blocks which leads outside. Outside, there are five ? Blocks with various items. Once you've gotten everything, backtrack through the cave to the junction. Head west.

Enter the only house on the incomplete bridge. There, the Hammerhead Bros. attempt to make a hammer, but fail. They tell you that they will make you hammers if you go to the top of the mountain and get them a Hoohoo Block. Exit the house and talk to the workers rebuilding the bridge. Leave the area and return, and the bridge will be done. Now, you can access the mountain.

Hoohoo Mountain[edit]

You must climb this Mountain in order to get a Hoohoo Block. It is a fairly large area, consisting of # rooms. It features several puzzles involving water and tornadoes.

Room 1[edit]

Fight against Beanie.

New Enemies: Beanie

  • 6 HP
  • Two attacks
    • It runs close to you, then attacks. Easy to counter by jumping.
    • It run towards you, turns sideways, then attacks. Difficult to counter, but doable.

You'll want to fight all the Beanies that you see. If Mario's POW is high enough (22+), he'll be able to defeat the Beanies in one hit.

Head to the west edge of the room. There is a ? Block with a Mushroom. Climb up the stairs. There are several gaps that you have to use Spin Jump to cross. Once you've crossed the last gap, walk off the edge to land on a platform with a ? Block that contains a Syrup. Return to where you were. Now, High Jump and follow the ledge to the west, where there is a ? Block with a Syrup. Exit to the northeast.

Room 2[edit]

Fight against Dry Bones.

New Enemies: Dry Bones

  • 8 HP
  • It attacks by spinning its head, then launching it. If it spins its head sideways, it attacks Mario. If its head spins up and down, it attacks Luigi. Can be countered by jumping.

Climb up the stairs, then spin jump into the whirlwind. It will allow you to spin much farther, letting you reach the other end of the room. Exit to the northeast.

Room 3 (first time)[edit]

Climb up some stairs and exit via a higher path that leads west. You can also fight some Dry Bones to the east first if you want the experience.

Room 4[edit]

Use a high jump to get a ? Block with a Mushroom near the entrance. Follow the path westward to where there's a watering hole. Have Mario drink from it, then walk over to a flaming red statue. Use a High Jump and Mario will spit out the water, extinguishing it. This causes a whirlwind to appear nearby. Spin Jump into the whirlwind and use the whirlwind to reach a higher platform to the left with a Save Journal. From there, Spin Jump to the right, where you'll find a ? Block with a Mushroom. Go back, then head west and climb up some stairs. Exit to the north.

Room 5 (first time)[edit]

Have Mario drink from the watering hole and extinguish another flaming statue. Have him drink again and exit to the east.

Room 6 (first time)[edit]

Extinguish the flaming statue. However, if any of the enemies hit you, Mario will lose his water and you will have to go fill up at the watering hole again. Return to Room 5.

Room 5 (second time)[edit]

Climb up the stairs on the west side and Spin Jump into the whirlwind to get to a high platform on the east side. Exit to the east.

Room 6 (second time)[edit]

Spin Jump into the whirlwind and hit the ! Block. This causes a watering hole in Room 3 to start flowing again. Spin Jump onto the platform with a ? Block to get a Mushroom, then exit to the southeast.

Room 3 (second time)[edit]

Have Mario drink from the watering hole and extinguish the flaming statue. Spin Jump into the whirlwind and go far to the east. Rather than continuing to the east, go north and you'll find a ? Block with a 1-Up Mushroom. Exit to the east.

Room 7 (Hoohooros Gate)[edit]

Talk to the statue in the middle of the room that has flashing eyes. He will challenge you to a minigame in which you have to collect ten spirits in 30 seconds. Simply Spin Jump from ledge to ledge to collect them. Then, he tells you that your next challenge is to defeat him.

Mini-Boss[edit]

Fight against Hoohooros.

Hoohooros

  • 45 HP
  • Two attacks
    • A pillar shoots a laser at one of the Mario Bros. It can be dodged by jumping.
    • Hoohooros shoots a laser and moves it so that it targets both brothers. It can be dodged by jumping.

Hoohooros uses pillars to conceal himself. However, if you destroy the pillar he is hiding in, he will just hide under the other one and erect a new pillar in place of the destroyed one. The trick is to first destroy the pillar he is not under and then destroy the one he is under. After this, you have a chance to attack him. On his next turn, he'll hide again and you'll have to repeat the process. The reward for beating him is a 1-Up Mushroom.

High Jump onto the newly-created ledge. Go right and Spin Jump to reach a ledge with a ? Block that contains a Syrup. In the same position on the other side, there is a ? Block that has a Mushroom. Exit to the north

Room 8[edit]

Fight against Rex.

New Enemies: Rex

  • 16 HP
  • They attack by charging at you. Can be countered by jumping. It's easier to dodge when they have less HP.

Boss[edit]

Dragohoho is throwing a fireball at Mario.

Dragohoho

  • 80 HP

Before leaving[edit]

After you get a ride back to Hoohoo Village, visit the Hammerhead Bros. You'll find them with the rock that fell down from the mountain, and they'll make some hammers for Mario and Luigi. With the hammer, you're now able to break the rock that Fawful placed earlier on, therefore being able to move on.
