If you're already familiar with Mario Party and Mario Party 2, you should know how it works. Here's a new set of features.

  • You can hold up to three items, instead of one unlike the second game.
  • Instead of mini-game island and coaster from the first two, there's a new story mode.
  • A total of 70 minigames available in this game.
  • 6 different boards in three different difficulties to get through. Be prepared for 20 to 35 to 50 turns of craziness.
  • A new duel board game mode available

Playing the Board Game[edit]

Each game starts out with character selection. Then each character spins a die to see who will go first. The highest number wins. Each player, starting with the one who won the dice roll and moving clockwise, rolls a die on their turn and then moves across as many board spaces as the number on the die. Before rolling, however, a player may use an item, pause the game, or view the entire board for strategic reasons (e.g. to locate the nearest Star Space).

Characters[edit]

All characters play the same and have the same size hitboxes. There are no advantages to one or the other.

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Princess Peach
  • Yoshi
  • Wario
  • Donkey Kong
  • Princess Daisy
  • Waluigi

Board Spaces[edit]

  • Blue Space - Gives the player three coins.
  • Red Space - Subtracts three of the players coins.
  • Item Space - Triggers an item-minigames. It may instead summon Toad or Koopa Kid.
  • Happening Space - Triggers a board-related event.
  • Battle Space - Triggers a battle minigame.
  • Game Guy Space - Triggers a Game Guy minigame
  • Bowser Space - Summons Bowser, who usually tries to steal coins.
  • Star Space - The star (or its barrier) rest here. Whoever passes it has the opportunity to buy a star. It usually moves around the board after someone purchases a star.
  • Chance Time Space - Triggers a chance time event.
  • Bank Space - Players who pass it must deposit five coins. Anyone who lands on the space receives all coins currently deposited.

Items[edit]

  • Mushroom - This mushroom allows you to roll two dice instead of one on your turn. Getting two of the same number will earn you 10 coins and getting two 7s will earn you 20 coins.
  • Skeleton Key - Use this key to get through any of the Skeleton Key Doors on the board. These doors give access to secret paths that cannot be entered without the key. You can get rid of the item whenever you want.
  • Cellular Shopper - Use this item from any spot on the board to call Toad or Koopa Kid and buy an item.
  • Warp Block - Warp to a random player's space. The player that you warp to will get your old spot.
  • Dueling Glove - This glove lets you challenge another player in a duel mini-game. You can set the amount of coins each player has to give in and the winner takes all.

  • Boo Repellant - Having this item with you will protect you from Boo. It is used automatically and can only be used once.
  • Magic Lamp - Use this lamp to summon the Mushroom Genie who will take you straight to the star. You still have to pay 20 coins for the star.
  • Item Bag - This item is use as soon as you buy it. You will have a chance to get three random items from the bag. You can get any item, even rare items. If you purchase this while having items in your inventory, you won't be able to get three items.
  • Posion Mushroom - Use this mushroom on another player and have their die change from 1-3 for one turn. You can also use it on yourself.
  • Reverse Mushroom - Use this mushroom to go backwards. Your die will turn green and you will move in the opposite direction.
  • Bowser Phone - Use this item from any spot on the board to call Bowser and send him after any player or yourself.
  • Bowser Suit - After putting this suit on, you are able to take 20 coins from any player you pass.
  • Lucky Lamp - Use this lamp to summon the Mushroom Jeanie who will change the location of the star, thus moving the star spot to another spot on the board.
  • Boo Bell - This bell will call Boo right to your space. You still have to pay the normal fees for stealing coins and stars.
  • Koopa Card - Passing any Koopa Bank will grant you access to all the coins stored there as long as you have this item with you.
  • Barter Box - Use this item to trade all of your items with all of another player's items.
  • Lucky Charm - Use this item to summon Game Guy. You can send him to another player or you can use it on yourself.
  • Wacky Watch - Using this item will change the entire game to the last 5 turns. This item can be used anytime during the game, even on the last turn.
