Returning from Mario Party 6, orbs can be used before rolling the dice block on your turn. Orbs can be acquired by moving through Orb Spaces or purchasing them at an Orb Shop. Each player can only hold up to three orbs at a time. On Team Mode, a team can hold up to six orbs. If the player (or team) has too many orbs, they can discard an orb to make room for the new one.

Self Orbs

Anyone can use these orbs on themselves if another orb is not in the player's orb receptacle.

  • Mushroom Orb: Lets you roll 2 Dice Blocks (for a total of 2-20 spaces). If the player rolls the same numbers, they get a bonus 10 coins (30 coins for two "7's"). If played on Mario Party teams, the player gets a bonus 50 coins for the same numbers.
  • Super 'Shroom Orb: Lets you roll 3 Dice Blocks (for a total of 3-30 spaces). If the player rolls the same numbers, they get a bonus 30 coins (or 50 coins for three "7's") If played on Mario Party teams, the player gets a bonus 300 coins for the same numbers.
  • Slow 'Shroom Orb: Lets you roll one 1-10 Dice Block (for a total of 1-10 spaces). However, the Dice Block moves slowly. Press A button when it is one number before your target number to fully utilize it. This orb is great for DK Spaces.
  • Metal Mushroom Orb: Protects you from Roadblock Orbs.
  • Flutter Orb: If the player uses this orb, a Wiggler turns into a Flutter. The player will then summon the Flutter which takes the player to the Star Space. The player still must trade 20 coins for it. This orb is only hidden on Grand Canal and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno.
  • Cannon Orb (Pagoda Peak only): Sends you higher up the board.
  • Lakitu Orb (Neon Heights only): Makes Lakitu bring you a treasure chest.
  • Snack Orb (Pyramid Park only): Lets you chase away a Chain-Chomp, who is after your stars, by throwing a dog bone to it (so it eats the bone and does not steal any of your stars). It lasts three turns.

Thrown Orbs

These orbs can be placed on any unoccupied Blue or Red Spaces within five spaces of you to create a Character Space. Team mates are not affected by Character Spaces in Team Mode and only the player's opposed team. That is because a team (in Team Mode) shares their coin and star total.

However the player can eat these orbs to turn Character Spaces back to normal Blue (or Red Spaces) if they have an Egg Orb (though this orb can only be used by Yoshi and Birdo).

  • Hammer Bro Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who lands on it pays you ten coins.
  • Piranha Plant Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who lands on it pays you half of their coins.
  • Spear Guy Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who lands on it must pay you coins equal to a dice block roll (up to 40).
  • Kamek Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who lands on it turns over up to three of their Character Spaces.
  • Toady Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who lands on it loses an orb. If applicable, it will be thrown somewhere on the board and become one of your character spaces.
  • Mr. Blizzard Orb: Any opponent who lands on it loses all of their orbs.
  • Bandit Orb (Windmillville only): If an opponent (or member of an opposed team) lands on it, Bandit will give you coins from a windmill. This could result in the windmill changing possession.
  • Pink Boo Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) landing on it has a Pink Boo stealing a star from them. If they don't have a star, he gives the player up to 30 coins. (The victim can fight back by merely tapping A button and lose less coins if the Boo is stealing coins. But if the Boo steals a star, the function to tap A button is absent.) This orb cannot be found in Pagoda Peak nor Windmillville, only on Grand Canal, Pyramid Park, Neon Heights, and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno!.

Roadblock Orbs

These orbs are thrown just like Thrown Orbs. However, they result in a Roadblock instead of a Character Space. Their effects can only be triggered once. Team mates are not affected by Roadblocks in Team Mode and only the player's opposed team. That is because a team (in Team Mode) shares their coin and star total.

  • Spiny Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it loses ten coins.
  • Zap Orb: Any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it loses three coins per space they move past it plus three coins for reaching it.
  • Tweester Orb: Blows any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it to another space.
  • Thwomp Orb: Squishes any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it, forcing them to stop on that space.
  • Pipe Orb: Returns any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it to the space they started from.
  • Bob-omb Orb (Pagoda Peak only): Sends any opponent (or member of an opposed team) who reaches it to the bottom part of the board.

Character Orbs

These orbs may only be used by two specific characters each. Multi-turn effects will carry over onto other characters in team mode. Of note is that, three of the orbs cannot affect a player's own team mate in Team Mode because the player (on a team) shares their coin and star total. (See below.)

  • Fireball Orb: Mario and Luigi can use this to take ten coins from every player they pass during the next three turns. On Team Mode, Mario or Luigi cannot steal coins from their own team mate since a team shares their coin and star total.
  • Flower Orb: Peach and Daisy can use this orb to jump on flowers over spaces. They get to collect 3 coins from each flower they jump on (until their turn is over). This lets them ignore traps as well. For example, if the player rolls a "10", they get to collect 30 coins, 3 coins from each flower.
  • Vacuum Orb: Lets Wario and Waluigi spin a wheel and press A button to determine how many coins they steal from each opposing player or team. Wario or Waluigi cannot steal coins from their own teammate in Team Mode since a team shares their coin and star total.
  • Triple 'Shroom Orb: Toad and Toadette can use this to double their dice blocks for the next three turns. Like the Mushroom Orb, if Toad or Toadette rolls the same numbers, they get a bonus 10 coins (or 30 coins for two "7's").
  • Egg Orb: Yoshi and Birdo can use this to let them eat Character Spaces and Roadblocks in their path, producing eggs. Eggs will turn into orbs when they stop moving. Character Spaces are created by thrown orbs. And they are permanent on the board (unless the player is Yoshi or Birdo, gets an Egg Orb, and eats the Character Space or Roadblock). Yoshi or Birdo cannot eat their own team mate's Character Spaces since a team shares their coin and star total.
  • Surprise Orb: Boo and Dry Bones can use this to turn invisible and double their dice block rolls for two turns.

Miscellaneous Orbs

These orbs cannot be carried.

  • Koopa Kid Orb: Collecting it causes Koopa Kid to come make a Koopa Kid Space with it.
  • Cursed Mushroom: Lets you roll only 1-5 on your next turn, or 1-3 in team mode. Either way, this orb restricts the dice block. It can only be acquired from a Koopa Kid Space and will automatically go in your orb receptacle.
