Put requested additions at the bottom using the "+" tab. Put the regular expression you want in as the title of the section, and a reason why in the section's body (don't forget to sign!). The process to decide inclusion is guided consensus, so allow at least seven days for everyone to voice their opinion before implementing. Older discussions may be archived occasionally.

# (Number Sign)[edit]

It would be a good idea to add this character, it's used by MediaWiki for "jumping to" sections. --CharitwoTalk 18:02, 3 September 2007 (CDT)

Some symbols are rejected by the software itself, and I believe this is one of them (along with / [ ] < >). If you can prove me wrong, please do and I'll add it. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 18:13, 3 September 2007 (CDT)
I tried creating Duke#ruckley and it created User:Duke instead.--DukeRuckley 18:22, 3 September 2007 (CDT)
Beat me to it, created Super#man and it created User:Super instead. --CharitwoTalk 18:24, 3 September 2007 (CDT)

New word to add[edit]

I've blocked a few accounts using this word (<censored>), and looking through this page, there appears to be no "nice" words containing this word in it, so should I add this in the blacklist or is it a bad idea? --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:52, 1 November 2007 (CDT)

As long as this doesn't end up being a list of bad words... -- Prod (Talk) 16:00, 1 November 2007 (CDT)
I'm only considering adding this because there are on average 2 every week that register with this that I have to block, which makes it appear in recent changes twice (once for new user log, once for block log). By adding it here, it won't appear in recent changes anymore. As for list of bad words you mentioned, hopefully this will be the only addition to it. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 16:37, 1 November 2007 (CDT)
*Freedom-of-speech police appear* Hey! You're violating our god-given rights to blurt out whatever the heck we like without recourse or consequence! That's like…illegal! --DrBob (talk) 17:06, 1 November 2007 (CDT)
Oh noes! Whatever will we do? It's not like since this is a private website that people registering have to abide by teh rulez or anything. Whatever was I thinking... --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:12, 1 November 2007 (CDT)

New Symbols to add[edit]

Can we add these symbols see source to the blacklist as I really don't see any good uses for them apart from trolling and any user that would want to do so without realising will not be allowed to create an account.--The preceding signed comment was added by Rocky (talkcontribs). 03:47, 23 December 2007 (CST)

Added. --Skizzerz_Scissors.png Safety Skizzerz {{ Talk | Contribs | Spel Chek™ | VFG | RTFM }} 09:56, 23 December 2007 (CST)

Should[edit]

We should add every bad word in existence to this page so no more unacceptable usernames will ever exist on this wiki just to protect this from offensive names especially the word "Kill".(Noryb989 (talk) 17:38, 10 January 2022 (UTC))

Simply put: No. Trig. - 17:47, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

Well can we at least ban racist usernames like "Chinese", "American", "Russian" etc because I don't want to put up with racist usernames? We all know you all don't want to put up with racism on the wiki.(Noryb989 (talk) 18:12, 10 January 2022 (UTC))

Acknowledging one's race does not make something racist. If I named myself American Jones, there is absolutely no racism occurring. If there are names that are problematic in regards to race–amongst all other poor usernames, they will likely be dealt with immediately by staff on a case by case basis. The Blacklist is more meant to prevent overall spam or surface level trolling, NOT to entirely prevent nefarious actors. Trig - 18:39, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

Then why this page listed bad words on it as in "No using the F Word in usernames"?(Noryb989 (talk) 19:05, 10 January 2022 (UTC))

The Blacklist is more meant to prevent overall spam or surface level trolling, NOT to entirely prevent nefarious actors. This covers enough ground for surface spam. Trig - 19:12, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Noryb989 (talk · contribs), if there is a specific page or a user with a name you are concerned about, bring it to our attention. If not, the way our blacklist is set up is fine and does not need revising at this time.
If you can come up with a regular expression that blocks vulgar usernames to my satisfaction, I can suggest it to Prod, who will have the final say. Arrow (talk) 21:18, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
