As in previous games, Zero can collect "Cyber-Elves" which have a wide variety of useful effects. There are two types of Cyber-Elves in this game. "Fusion" Elves are the same type we were using in the previous games; they die when you use them, so you get docked mission points for using them. However, this game introduces a second type of Cyber-Elf, called "Satellite" Elves. These don't die, and can be activated and deactivated at any time. And since they don't die, you can use them all you want without any score penalties. However, you can only have up to two Satellite Elves active at a time. Many Elves can be converted from Fusion to Satellite and back by feeding them E-Crystals. If you want a high rank, which is necessary to collect EX Skills, use only Satellite Elves.
Also, this game features Cyberspace, which is like a parallel dimension you can travel back and forth from. In Cyberspace, some of your Elves will take effect automatically. Even certain Fusion Elves will activate without dying while in Cyberspace, which can make you much more powerful while there. However, you get docked mission points for going into Cyberspace.
Elf types:
- - Fusion Cyber-Elf
- - Satellite Cyber-Elf
- - Fusion/satellite Cyber-Elf that takes effect Automatically in Cyberspace.
Elf upgrades:
- - Must be upgraded twice before it can be used.
- - Must be upgraded once before it can be used.
- - Can either be used as it is, or upgraded for a greater effect.
- - Can be converted from Fusion to Satellite, or vice-versa
- - Cannot be upgraded further.
Fusion cyber-elves[edit]
These elves can be used only once, and their effect is either instantaneous or permanent. The mission score is lowered by using them.
Default sorting is by family, then by Energy Crystals (EC).

Satellite cyber-elves[edit]
These elves can be activated and deactivated at leisure, but only two can be used at the same time. The mission score is not lowered by using them, making them probably the most versatile cyber-elves in the video game.

Cyberspace cyber-elves[edit]
These elves are automatically activated when Zero enters the cyberspace and deactivated when Zero leaves it, regardless whether they have been upgraded or not. They are not used up in cyberspace, and can be activated again. The mission score is affected by the fact that cyberspace was accessed, not by the number of elves activated in it.
Outside cyberspace, they can be used as "fusion" type (see here) or upgraded to "satellite" type (see here).
The total Energy Crystal (EC) value refers to the amount of crystals necessary to raise the cyber-elves to Satellite; they all start as Fusion elves.

Upgrading the cyber-elves[edit]
A total of 13520 E-Crystals is necessary to raise all the Cyber-Elves in the video game to their maximum level.
Three cyber-elves are useful to upgrade the other ones, because they increase the amount of Energy Crystals that you can get. Therefore, they should have priority when feeding crystals to the cyber-elves. They are:
- Enethas (100EC): it makes you get E-Crystals when you block shots with the Shield Boomerang; found in Blizzack Staggroff's stage.
- Dylphina (300EC): it makes enemies always drop items when killed; found in Copy-X II's stage.
- Byse (1000EC): it makes health items and energy crystals worth twice as much; found in Copy-X II's stage.
